YO GEORGIANS! :)

Yes. But remember, a chicken could live up to 20-25 years. Considering all of the predators and other things that can go wrong, most chickens don't live that long so I don't think I would worry about them not having eggs after 20 years.

A chicken will lay her best within the first two years and then egg production will drop about 10 percent.
Wow, 20-25 years? I really did not know that was possible. I have read about someone having one who lived to 18 but thought that was an oddity. I thought 10-12 years if pampered and protected.

My bantum Cochin has just hatched two little ducks. She is in with another hen and my roo should I move her and the babies, our last hatch from the other hen we left them all together and everyone was fine. I am worried that the other hen and the roo will not accept the ducklings.

I've had hens hatch ducks for me. Only one time did a bad thing happen. One of the baby ducks got it's beak pecked really bad by another hen and it ended up dying. I separated them from then on....put the mom with her baby ducks in a separate cage. It also worked better because ducks need a bowl of water to dip their beaks in and it is so messy. Keeping them separate was just cleaner for the other chickens.

So you all remember the little chick I saved from the feedstore who wanted to put her down because she had curled toes?

Well, she has started laying and her eggs are the they are the most beautiful color ever!!! I must have taken a hundred photos trying to get the color to show up right, but believe me, nothing does it justice!

Just know that the egg on the top right is a nice shade of blue. The middle egg is the one this new hen lays. It is really a dark turquoise color! I just wish you could see this color right. Anyway, I am soooo glad that man wanted to kill her and just gave her to me when I protested about him wanting to put her down! I love her egg color!

That is a beautiful shade of blue. Wish I could see it in person. I'm glad you saved her!

Anyone have a young mille fleur d'uccle hen they would part with? My flock is between 1 week and 5 weeks old and the MF is the last chick i want to add but i am having a terrible time finding one.
