YO GEORGIANS! :)

absolutely welcome

I didn't know we had a Boston, GA, that is my last name, course it's the husband's fault,

It is your last name and I married a man from Boston, Mass. It IS our husband's faults. Boston is a very small.... very nice little town. Main street is made up of two very short blocks. Lots of cotton!

I still don't have this system down. I was responding to the person who wanted to sell her polish mix because it goes over the fence.

Their wings have been clipped. Thing is, they aren't really flying over, they are hopping over. They can do this because they have slim bodies. My other breeds are too heavy to hop over!

Goodness, how high is your fence? If it's at least 4 ft they must be great jumpers. Didn't know birds could jump that high.

I have a dilemma. I have a beautiful purebred Swedish Flower rooster who is getting into the nests and (we think) is knocking the eggs out to the hens below. We have never caught him knocking them down, but I have seen him run to the nest after the egg song and I have caught him in the nests. DH is really wanting me to sell him! Does anyone want to buy my Swedish Flower rooster? I may have to ask Feathersaloft for some SF hatching eggs next spring and get some more SFs! Such beautiful and rare birds!

I also have some hens who are 2 years + that I think I want to sell. How much do you think I should ask for them?

I also have a few young (just started laying) hens who I really like, but they are hopping over the fence everyday! They are eating all my flowers and plants. (Not good for renting the house as a vacation rental!) There are two in particular that are Polish mixes and therefore have those slender bodies that allow them to hop over. I tried clipping their wings, but these aren't even flying.....just jumping over. I may have to sell them, too.

If you are interested in any of these chickens, please let me know! Thanks.
Oh, I hope you don't have to get rid of your SF rooster. I was hoping for pure SF chicks from you in the future to go with my hen. Have you tried putting him in a sort of time out?

Just a thought. He doesn't see something wrong like a bug or mouse and going after it knocking the eggs out. I had a Silkie act weird one day getting in the nest box growling and then I found out he was just checking the nest out before my broody hen got in it. Like a sort of Safety check.

21 eggs went into lockdown today! Should have chicks by Friday/Saturday! Papa, the 2 BA that you gave me are included!

In my other bator, I started with 13 Lavender Ameraucana eggs (plus others) and so far, I have lost 7 of them! Blood rings or no development! So disappointed.......again! Those are shipped eggs. Those aren't due until Later Oct. and I suspect I will lose more of those because they have crazy saddle air sacks! Anyway, I just would be excited to get at least 2 females and one male of the Lav. AMs!
ohhhhhh cool! let me know what color they come out, I had several 'yellow' chicks come from my BA's and I'm thinking they're going to turn out to be splash.....which would be pretty dadgum cool

hate it about the lavs giving up, I am interested to see what they look like, if there's really a lot of difference in those and my blues

What the heck! Just put the eggs in lock down last night and already have a pip in one of the BA eggs this morning! I suppose it is because it was a small pullet egg. Small eggs have a tendency to hatch early. (Like bantams hatch at day 19) and today is day 19!

So, having to go get my Drivers License renewed. Can't do it over the phone because I am going to be 64 in Dec, they require an eye test! Ugh. So sad, getting old! But, then again, it's how you age, right?! My DD challenged me on the fitbit......I am in 1st place in steps with about 7 people in the challenge! 1st day I had over 20,000 steps (8.47 miles), yesterday I had 14,516 steps (6.22 miles) and today???? The challenge is for 5 days. (Total steps) I hate not to win! LOL!
