You might be a “Southie” if...

Nope Danny Devito.gif

Don't try to hit us up with that Southie Sweeter-than-Sweet-Tea malarky :plbb

We have a week of anti Southie weather ahead of us. After tomorrow we might not get above 0.0f for a week or so.View attachment 2513953
I noticed your miserable weather a little earlier when I was looking at mine. That cold jet stream was supposed to dip as far south as I am beginning next week, putting us in the low teens as a low, but that has changed a bit as of this morning. And I am THANKFUL! I feel terribly sorry for you though.

I have extremely dry skin anyway and this cold weather makes my hand/fingers crack like plastic. If the stiffness from old Arthur isn’t making my hands hurt, the deep, bloody cracks on my finger tips and joints are! I hate it! I just man up and do what I’ve gotta do, usually with blood all over everything.

But think about how much ice will be made next week. I will be able to fish for a month on that ice alone.

Arthur is just a part of life. I have dupuytrens which makes my fingers and hands hurt on the best days, so next week could be a heating pad week.

I wanted to start tapping trees but I think I will wait a week.

No need for TERRIBLY sorry - most of the grumbling around here is that it is not cold enough, and not enough snow

Looks like our temps are going to be about 5 deg warmer than Ralphies. And we finally are going to get snow! I may get out my winter coat and the snowmobiles.

For dry hands, the best thing hands down I've ever found is O'Keeffe's Working Hands. Since our office is closed to clients, we go outside frequently to talk to people in their cars. That is the one time I object to the cold - sometimes it is hard to hold a pen after a few minutes. That hand cream has saved us.

Unfortunately my many near frostbite episodes over the years have resulted in Raynaud's syndrome, and there is no fix for it.

I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try the O’Keeffe’s. I’ve got several prescription creams and ointments that don’t seem to be doing the job.

I’m sorry you ‘have developed’ Raynaud’s. Can’t that be terribly debilitating?

For some people who have it bad. I can't spend much time outside on the tractor in cold weather anymore, and when I come my fingers burn quite painfully. Sitting here in a cool room typing my fingers are stiff and kind of red to a little purple at the tips. They work fine when they are warm though, and it is not like Arthur, where they hurt all the time.

If I had not worked outside for years at a job where I could not always wear gloves in the cold, I doubt this would have happened. And maybe I could have been more careful, but I had no idea about a problem like this. So all you youngsters keep your gloves on when out in cold weather! :old
