You might be a “Southie” if...

If the weathermen are correct, we will not reach 20 degrees this week... we are currently at -14. I like snow, but this cold is ridiculous! I am kind of dreading working this afternoon. Hopefully I’ll get to spend all afternoon in the barn with the heater. :fl
I know, I know. You northerners think I am a wimp. It is rather difficult to adjust to the weather here though when it swings from 100+ summer temps down to this!

I do agree incredibly cold temps, below 0, are miserable for days/weeks on end; however, what really, really hurts is when the temps constantly fluctuate between 20* with wind chills in the single digits and 68-70*...in the same week. It’s hard on me, but I know it has to be difficult on all the animals as well. 😢

I know it! Last week was in the 50s, the week before that the 20s, and now this... I wish the weather would make up its mind!

While we rarely reach 100, 90 is not out of the ballpark most summers. But we also regularly get down to 10 below or colder. So I know what you mean :D
People think that the great plains don't get that cold because they are so much further south, but Winters there can be brutal I know
I know! It’s so funny, because I know people farther North than us think that it’s so much warmer here and people farther South than us think it is way cooler here. I’ve talked to people from both groups who have moved here and realized that no, it is neither really warmer or colder, we just get both extremes! And way drier weather. 😂

I think I hear the gentle sounds of Southies whining. :lau

We reach 100 most summers for a day or two, we reach 90 a couple days too. I try to spend those days soaking in a lake or lying in front of the AC.

Now whiners take note:

It was just the right temp to hurt my lungs when I breathed in while accompanying Haylee on her morning poop.

We will not see above zero for a week or more.

Dear fellow Southies —-you should know better than to complain here about our cold weather!
Any temp we will have
They will be colder
They will be colder
For longer than us.....

Any snow we will have
Theirs will be deeper
Theirs will be deeper
For longer than ours.

Etc.
For a Southie, you are pretty darn smart.

I am going to have to visit these vast wastelands of the northie regions sometime just to see what it's like for myself.

Other than the big piles and piles of snow..and length of time they have to deal with the cold..
I venture to say we almost have it worse than they do in other ways.
When it is cold here it is often a wet cold. And ice, freezing rain on top of snow.
And yes I know cold is cold it has been scientifically proven. But I read people say that they feel colder when they come to the South and it's cold ..because when you go outside here it is often impossible to keep from being wet on top of cold. Which makes you feel colder.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
