young pullet went berserk yesterday.

i had them out free ranging yesterday.after i put them back in the run for the night.a young pullet attacked another pullet.she chased,and cornered her.and pecked her over and over.all the other chickens ran and cowered in corners and coops.hearing her screams broke my heart.so i went to her rescue.when i opened up the door,she tried to escape and she flew right into my arms.i scoop her up and the poor thing was gasping and whimpering.the other pullet was coming after her,even though i had her in my arms.i have brusies on my arms and legs were this pullet has bitten me.i know this is probably a normal pecking order thing.this pullet is down right mean.i have older hens that rule the run.and they were trying to find a place to hide.what should i do keep her or cull her.

I would get rid of the nasty pullet. Either cull/eat or rehome ASAP. Your flock will be better off without her.

I agree...I would get rid of her. You certainly don't need that in your chicken coop!

thanks,i may have to rehome her.i was hoping for another solution.i raised her from a peep.i don't know what got into her yesterday evening.she is right on the verge of laying.

i push her away from my legs when i see she is going to bite.she will do the mating squat.and she is very small.so i'am pretty sure she is.i had five young roosters.i rehomed them and none of them ever bite me.she hasn't started laying so she can't be broody.

I had a hen that does the courtship dance as an act of aggression towards the other girls so that they go away before she pecks them. I'm trying to figure out if that is a normal symbol or not...

at first i thought she may be a rooster.because she is so agressive.she has no comb.she is blue/gray in color.and her legs are the same color.very pretty.

It's normal. Some hens will do that if there's no rooster around.

That's whats weird, I have 8 full grown roosters and a few chicks.
