Your 2024 Garden

I think I might water, for the first time in a few weeks. Now that I've pulled a bunch of weeds, the sun is hitting the soil and drying it faster.

The heavy soil garden is probably fine, as most of it is covered with thick slices from hay bales. But hubby hauled gallons of water up there to fill the IBC tank, so I might as well use it. The tomatoes are setting a lot of fruit, so they'll drink it up.

Glad that you got the IBC tank to working.

It doesn't look like I will get rained out today and am needing to till a little where I'm working on a fall garden the tomato plants that need transplanting are within a 4" of being knee high. Some are blooming in their tray. I don't really want to work outside today but I've had a lot of down time do to weather this last week. Either it was raining or to hot to be safe outside doing anything physical for very long.

No, it's still just a storage tank. Never did find the right fitting.

I didn't water today, as I had some other really pressing things to do. If we don't get rain tomorrow, I'll water. And, yeah, I still have to drain water out of the IBC into a bucket. But at least it's there.

It rained just enough to send me inside just as I was about to get started outside. I did get the area I needed to till done just before dark. The forecast is for rain to come during the night that will most likely make me have to till it again before I can plant that area. If it rains on it the grass I till will take root again and come back even thicker from all the sprigs I cut it up into. I hate joint grasses.

I started some seed indoors for collards, broccoli and cabbage last week. They are sprouting.
Saturday I picked more squash, tomatoes and cucumbers. I will be picking more beans and peas soon.
Today I hope to do some weeding and work on an area cleared for the fall garden. It needs some compost worked into the sil.
