Your 2024 Garden

This guy has been at the garden gate the last few mornings. I told him to get his cotton tail out in the yard. Plenty of clover and grass for him.
No greenbeans for you!

Still no rain, so I put the hose on the squash bed, let it trickle while I did other stuff. I found three squash bugs, fed them to the chickens.

Afterwards when I turned off the faucet I started pulling "just a few" of the invasive American jumpseed growing with the Canna lilies. I couldn't stop until I had yanked most of them out of the ground.

I was trying to figure out how I let it get so weedy, and then recalled that last year there was a yellow jacket nest next to the Cannas, and I couldn't get close to do weeding without getting stung.

I swept the "new" shed, started moving chicken stuff over.

I want to hang a motion sensor solar light over the door, maybe tomorrow after I get home.

Back to work in the morning, but the weekend is coming!

Blanched and froze four more bags of beans this evening. Picked another lemon squash, it's the most prolific of the varieties I planted.

And I watered, everything is so dry.

My sweet corn that was mid thigh high the gusty high winds flattened is now back to standing up straight. It was blown flat to the west and the sun rising in the east I think helped a lot. I've got to till the middles for weeds now while I can still get down them. Hopefully I will get some more okra planted tomorrow. I need at least 3 more rows so I will have some for the farmers market this year.

Whew.

I'm thankful we've been cooler than usual this Spring. When it doesn't get below 80° at night and stays extremely humid it's just miserable for everyone. But we don't get much snow, either, so that's a plus.
