Your 2024 Garden

I actually got to do chores this afternoon late without coming in soaking wet. We will pick peas in the morning as soon as the plants are dry. Friday is another freezer camp day for a few more of the bigger boys that have gotten fat. Saturday more peas to pick from the later planted seed where the washout areas are. May pick a few eggplant tomorrow to. Ma made me some Cowboy Candy today and tomorrow at lunch I'll test it.

I just had some Cowboy Candy that is made from jalapeno peppers. It's like a bread and butter pickle with pepper instead of a cucumber. I used a pepper ring and a 1/4 slice of American cheese on a roasted vegetables Ritz Cracker. My new favorite night time snack to go with meds.

I saw some aphids in the garden. It was only a few so I started cutting out the affected area.
As I worked I noticed ladybugs! They love aphids!

I cut out the aphids but put the ladybugs back. Hopefully they will get any I missed.

Today I'm going to continue pumping water to certain areas in the gardens. Can't depend on the Guessers. We've had forecasts for rain now for several days and not enough has fallen to settle the dust.

Radar said we got a shower of rain today. It wet the top three grains of sand. Technically that constitutes rain if you forecast rain I guess. I am so glad I watered my okra and sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are 10-15 days from being ready to dig. I pulled enough corn for about a 6 weeks supply today. The coons got a third, the worms got a third, the weather got a sixth, and we got about a sixth. I will not plant again without an electric fence up first. I'm ready not to do battle with the worms.
