Our weather guessers are not on there game tonight. Calling for a low of 38° and at the same time have posted a freeze warning. I'm hoping for 38° so I can cover my banana trees tomorrow.

We were cold last night but no frost yet. It is a little late this year but I know it's coming soon.

This week I picked broccoli and collards. I added 5 bags of broccoli florets and 5 bags of collards to the freezer. Some will be for holiday meals.

Still looking green in the garden.

I picked up my cell phone the other day to check the forecast it said current temp 131f, high for the day 158f ???? It stayed that way a few hours. It was actually around 60f.

Yup, that's a garbage bag of chard. The plants are still alive and have some small leaves coming up in the center of the plant.

Pretty much the end of the garden for this year. I might putter around adding some more leaves or digging up weeds, but maybe not.

Okra still blooming along with peppers and eggplant. They are on my ignore list now. Summer peas are blooming again after having been mowed down 3 times.... Looks like we have a freeze coming later in the week. That should put a stop to some of the nonsense.

I'm going to pick any chard leaves that are still alive Wednesday, in advance of the 22 degree nights coming up. I might leave one plant and see what happens...

Ooooo! I should cover one with two layers of bed sheet and see how long I can get it to survive!

I'm hoping the freeze will kill the caterpillars that keep after my collards.

Picked some greens for the chickens and found a few aphids. Hope between the expected rain and cold will slow them down.
Walked around the flower garden and found a very late daylily bloom.

I hate to see these go. Weekend temps will get them.

The Camelias have just got started.

My camellia generally blooms in January or February.
