Your Plans For 2020! (Chat/Discussion)

Pics
I have too many plans

Buy and raise more chicks to add to my layer flock (already making my lists now).

Start selling eggs.

Possibly build a third coop or else breeding pens depending on whether or not I can make up my mind about what breed(s) I want to focus on breeding/selling.

Start selling chicks.

Hopefully add one or all of the following:
Turkeys
Geese
Ducks
Which means setting up more housing and fencing for them.

Learn how to butcher and process our own birds.

Is this poultry specific? If not I’d also like to buy a couple more calves.

And send my filly up north for training.

I think that’s it? Might look into getting an LGD puppy too.

Oh! And convince my hubby that we should have a third baby :lau:gig

Yep! A new baby is the premiere goal!

We sat down today and planned out our 2020 goals. We are:

Building a driveway gate, automatic.
Building a coop and run, Fort Knox.
Refurbishing a garage room into an "everything room".
Finishing off the pole barn.
Rehabbing the bathrooms.
Hardware floors, where we don't already have it.
And some cosmetic work on the garage.

We have scheduled it out now, so I'm feeling good about our prospects. :D

Hello again everyone ~ :frow

Very nice thread idea @Fur-N-Fowl :ya

My plans for 2020 are to rehome most of my flock. :hmm

I’ve decided that chickens, ducks, and quail aren’t meant for me. Have had poultry for 4 years now but I’m not cut out for it.

The chickens and quail stress the living heck out of me daily. :th
Either fighting or something else along those lines.

The ducks are O.K. but the cleaning their duck out every 2 days is getting old. :sick Nasty, muddy, stinkiness :sick

~

I have ducklings due in January as well. :hmm I’ll start selling off slowly in February. The ducks I may keep a while longer, but I doubt it. The smell gets sickening :sick I’d love to breathe fresh air again :gig

-

The only birds I will have by the end of 2020 are guineas. That’s the plan, anyways. :)

My friend @chickens really is who inspired me to do this. The stress of a hobby that is meant to be enjoyable isn’t worth it. No joy in it for me at all really. :hmm

In 2020 I’ll do my best to fix up something to keep goats in. :) Just need fencing and other supplies then I’ll be on the way :gig I also want to get another dog. It’s officially been 1 whole year since my last dog passed away. I miss having a playful little companion. :)

Of course I’ll still have my 2 rabbits and 3 kitty cats. :wee

Wow! that's a big change! But, I think you are being wise. You have given it a go and like you say, it's just not for you. Lot's of people talk about their goats on this site, so hope you don't leave us. (We don't stress you out, do we?)

No push, I promise. I’ve wanted the chickens and quail gone for a long time :gig
