I have a couple of boxes of disposable gloves at the ready for dealing with poop, so my skin doesn't ever come in contact with their doo doo. I have a pair in my back pocket all the time at home. It's not that I am squeamish, just a matter of keeping things sanitary for the flock's health and mine. Actually, I take care of most hands on business with my flock early in the morning, and delay my shower until after that so I don't have to worry about stuff like salmonella.I was cleaning out my waterer this morning , you know with my fingers going round and round trying to catch the poop .... and I thought who would have thought I’d end up here?

A-pick it up with your hand?
B-go get the scoop ?

Tell me your fast and efficient ways to tend to your hens health and well being .... then go wash your hands

After fishing two chicks out of an old and much used outside privy a few years ago I can honestly chicken poop doesn't bother me that much![]()
