Zodiac Hatch-A-Long - Waxing Moon in Fruitful Signs HAL

Thanks for the great ideas. I think if I use hardware cloth even with great care, the chicks will always be at risk of injury around the edges. These shrimp bags are perfect. Now if I can just get them in time for my hatch.
I made a cage out of hardware cloth but I can't find it. I bought these bags a long time ago for something like $5 not knowing I would have a use for them. It just seemed like a good buy. They're reusable too. I dump the hatching debris in the compost pile, wash them and dry in the sun.
The first time I used them I just pulled the drawstring and the Houdini chicks all escaped. The same hatch, I used some pint berry baskets and they escaped from those too.
I started tying the drawstrings and zip tying them. I have a big bag of tiny rubber bands about 1/2" and they work really well. I save the zip ties for leg banding.

I am going to make dividers in my bator with: Legos, window screen, hot glue sticks, and a bic cigarette lighter (rats chewed my hot glue gun's cord in storage)

Legos is a great idea

Well I set silky and some random pb bantam eggs today =) and by random I mean who ever laid today and yesterday to fill in the empty space ;) I also set duck eggs but they'll hatch a week later =)

Bammadude & ravynfallen are grandparents!!! 27 1/2 hours early ravynfallen's new laying Am pullet egg hatched. 10-15 min after that 3 more hatched. Second chick out was a Pure Am from ravynfallen. Third out was bamma's large pinkish egg. Looks to be a maren mix all yellow with feathered feet. Fourth one is from ravynfallen's new laying Am pullet. 6 more have pips. 3 of bamma's and 3 of ravynfallen's. I'll update later seeing how I just came down with a fever of 99.5 and couldn't go to work lol

Yeah, he could just stick the eggs in a shirt pocket. I've heard of women hatching eggs in their bras.

I set eggs yesterday for the next hatch and I'm moving the current batch due Monday at noon to the hatcher today.
