I put the eggs under my split-winged but otherwise lovely mama Swedish Flower Hen, Volie. She accepted them just fine.

In my experience, Brinsea is by far the easiest to use and I've had extremely successful hatches from my little mini. They are quite expensive though. I couldn't afford a big one- not now anyway.

With my hens the eggs got bigger when they were well over a year old, like a year and three months to a year and a half. You might give them a few more months.

Well, we have a very contented little chick this morning, sitting under the wing of her stuffed duck "mommy." Not peeping loudly, but making soft, happy chick sounds. Thanks for the good advice!
