Okay, so I didn't read this whole thread (because who has time to go through 439 pages?) but I'm a bit confused. I have some beautiful bright red what-I-thought-were-partridge silkies. I love the colour so much better than these dark headed, goldish looking birds. Am I to understand that red...
I haven't had a chance to go through all 588 pages of this thread, however I would like to see what correct combs should look like and what colour should they be? I also have some questions about colour - I have a black rooster, but he has a bit of gold showing on his neck. I assume this is a...
I'd like to download the newest version of this poultry tracker, but when I click the google link to download it tells me the url can't be found on the server.
My hatch numbers: I set 75 eggs (including 8 under my broody hens), 48 made it to lockdown, and 35 hatched
12/16 Wyandotte - 1 infertile, 3 early quitters
7/8 Ameraucana - 1 didn't hatch (broody hen got busy with chicks and abandoned the last egg)
4/4 Frizzle - :)
2/10 Cochin - 6 infertile, 1...
I can't - I'm not a US resident. There was only 1 contest I could enter.
Doesn't matter - it died :( Somehow I manage to kill all 6 of my Muscovy eggs, 4 of which should have hatched as they were 'full-term'. The other 2 died sometime after the last candling. I'm totally bummed as that was...
Day 39 - can't see beaks as membrane is opaque. The one I pictured is as far as I've opened. The other one has only a tiny hole to let in oxygen. I don't know how much fluid is under membranes - how can I tell? I have to leave for work in a half hour after doing chores so but I'm afraid if I...
Help - I have 2 muscovy eggs still in the incubator but they aren't hatching. I candled and saw no pips so I thought they were dead but when I made a view hole in the shell they started moving. Now what do I do? Do I open the hole wider and open the outer membrane or just leave it and hope it...
No, they were incubated in a turner and were candled the Sunday before we set on Thursday noon. All were developing and moving except one. I set 6 into lockdown. I candled and egg-topsied them yesterday and discovered 2 were still alive and unpipped internally so I put them back into the...
I have no time to catch up on this thread, but wanted to check in to see where/when we are supposed to post our hatch results. I'm still waiting on 2 Muscovy.
I'm still waiting on 3 chicken eggs, 3 duck eggs and 6 muscovy. I don't think my muscovy are going to hatch :( Everything else has hatched though - including 2 chicks in my hen house!
I have 6 muscovy eggs in my incubator and today is day 36. Nothing is happening :( Everyone always says keep humidity high for duck eggs, so that's what I did ... but now I've been reading that muscovy should be hatched much drier and that having humidity too high will result in late death of...
We are hatching here at RavenWood! So far I have 3 Frizzles, 2 Wyandottes and 1 splash Cochin. There are quite a few others pipped (none of my mystery eggs yet though) including 4 ducks!
Anyone interested can watch my hatch-cam which will run during the day...
Thanks PeepsCA - That was my thought on the slate too ... it calls a lot but never buck-wheat and yes, it's 'casques' (those are the wattle thingys I gather?) are smaller and sort of hang down rather than stick out. I guess we'll see. I have secured another hen so at least I'll have 2 or 3 if...
Tough competition in this contest - so many wonderful entries - but here are mine anyhow!
