Hey there! You're about 5 weeks now, how's it looking? Based on the pics, my guess would be girl - although the little poot tail confuses me. Still going to vote girl though! I'd love an update if you have one.
Oops, sorry - didn't see I wasn't replying to @ChickenCanoe.
Wow a dozen you think? My husband might have a heart attack if he sees a dozen eggs come in. We have 5 girls and want to keep it under 8. You really think a dozen would be best/
I am in Orange County. We are not under any restrictions but I know several places are not shipping to a large group of zip codes within Southern California, even though we specifically are not under restrictions.
We have a very small backyard flock and haven't needed any additional ladies for...
My SLW popped with a red face and wattles early, but she's a she. :) I read that Wynadottes have a tendency to redden early.
I stay dont despair and wait another month or two to know for sure when the feathering comes in.
Hi guys! I know this isn't the most active thread, but I'm checking in just in case someone is in need of a white silkie roo, about 12 weeks old?
Just did his first crow this past weekend (yelling at the heat, I'm sure!) and heard it again this morning. Since roosters are a no-no for us, we...
Hi! I have an adorable white, fluffy silkie who has just started to let us know he's a he. :) 12 weeks old. Need to find him a good home ASAP. Anyone want? Would have to pick up - in Orange County, CA.
Love this chick diary! We are also doing chicks again after raising 4 girls last year (just over a year old and do great with rent payments!). Hope to continue to see updates!
Check out Dare 2 Dream farms! They offer chickens of all ages and aren't too far away. (They also deliver!) They also have a calendar that lets you see their upcoming hatches so even if they don' have Wynadotte pullets now, they might on the near future.
Highly recommend!
I got my 4 gals from Privett (through a local feed store) - 3 Easter Eggers and a Welsummer. All were laying between 18-22 weeks. Very sweet chickens with lots of personality! I've attached a couple pictures of the eggs we've gotten. (The picture of the 4 eggs is one from each bird.)
I've...
.... my 4 pullets (11 months old now) haven't been laying since November. I'm chalking it up to their molt and winter blues. I've had to buy eggs TWICE now (thank goodness for Costco!) but I'm dreaming of Spring and when I can bust out my skelter again!
My birds are 11 months old and molted starting back in November! They have also stopped laying for the wintertime. 3 Easter Eggers and 1 Welsummer. I was concerned because they started dropping feathers like crazy (looked like murder happened in their coop!) and then stopped laying, but once...
Hi there! I understand your frustration. :) I'm in Southern California as well and I have 4 pullets that will be a year old come February. 3 Easter Eggers and 1 Wellie - all started laying over the summer. Once Thanksgiving hit all the chickens slowly stopped laying eggs - the EEs went...
I have four pullets, all laying, and my Wellie is the only one that makes a ruckus. Judging by the replies in this thread, sounds like it's in the breed. So glad she's an afternoon layer and not an early morning layer!
