So much light, air, and space! Happy chickens, I'm sure.

You could improve the article by giving dimensions and floorplans for the different sections.

A solid, time-proven design. Having the regular updates is wonderful to really show what does/doesn't work. The only reason I can't give you a 5-star is that the plans aren't included in the article (though I think there are enough photos that many people could duplicated it anyway).

Great to see this comparison! I was surprised at how close the weights were.

If you do make more capons and carry them longer it would make an interesting update.

I have another pair that are nearing 6 months. I might keep these boys to almost a year and see the difference then.

Needs more pictures integrated into the article to illustrate the build. Also dimensions for the various pieces so that a person could duplicate it without having to work everything out for himself.

A great build! I'm going to bookmark it for future reference. I'm particularly glad that you addressed the problem of it possibly tipping over because that was the reason for the failure of my mini-tower chick-feeder, but would like to see exactly how you secured it to the wall.

Wonderful build and very well-explained. I know very little about incubators, but I was able to follow the process and understand it.

Do please update to document the first hatch.

I can't 5-star it without the parts list and plans, but the photos are great and it looks like a highly-practical build. What are your plans to keep the lines and nipples from freezing in the winter?

Nice way to provide an enriched environment for both chickens and children. Did you have trouble with them kicking bedding out onto the floor? Were you able to reuse the brooder or was it one and done disposable?

Wow, I don't know why I'm only seeing this now! Sorry about that. Yes, they did kick some sand out onto the floor, but only because, for some reason, they preferred to dust-bathe right in front of the door. They only kicked sand out while dust-bathing in that particular spot, not when scratching generally.

I could have reused the brooder, if I'd bothered to save it. I'd lined the bottom with plastic, so the cardboard wasn't damaged. I didn't think I'd be hatching again anytime soon (ha!) so I threw the box out. The door was too nice to throw out, so I kept it, thinking I'd repurpose it somehow.

And here I am, a year later, hatching chicks again! I'm glad I didn't save the brooder though, because now I have an excuse to make an even bigger and better one! Which I did, out of a chest freezer box. It's huge and it's even more awesome! I'm putting together an article about it right now. This time I'll save the brooder though. I'm addicted to chicks and can't imagine this being my last hatch...
Nice photos! More details about features, reliability, etc. would be good.

Looks nice and solid. Could you add plans and dimensions? I'd like a better explanation of the rip bars too -- it would be useful for anyone who has stray/feral dogs to worry about.

The coop looks great -- roomy and airy (three cheers for splendid ventilation!). But the article would be more useful with plans, dimensions, and more explanation of what each picture is showing.

Dimensions, plans, and more detailed photos of the layout would be useful.

Plans? Dimensions? Explanations of what the photos are showing?

The scale of the project is impressive, but more details would be helpful.

Thank you for the feedback! I need to go in and do some editing as we added the heated shed to the sub aviary to house the budgies, finches, and guinea pigs through the winter! I will try to add additional details with my update per your suggestions!!!

Great job of explaining how you worked with your space, your materials, and your climate to make a coop that functions for your needs. Love the sunporch!

Thanks. I just noted below that I am going to expand the sunporch this summer. It only holds 3 hens at a time and all 6 wanted to be able to sunbathe together this past winter. I could see it leading to some frustrated hens so i must solve it for them.

A really nice adaptation and great photo documentation. I love the extra access doors that you added and the details about how you fastened the apron to the blocks.

Could you add actual plans?

The only plans I have are like the block diagram above, as I said I didn't use the correct software for drawing them so could add the roof. My plans for the roof were 'back of the envelope' type effort after watching a youtube vid so not much help for anyone else.
