Yes, it lacks only plans to be a 5-star coop article.

The documentation is superb, particularly your analysis of the "mistakes" and the reasons behind the design decisions. The extra effort spent on aesthetics is worthwhile in your urban setting.

CLEVER use of existing space! I particularly like the fence-panel access door. I would normally ask for plans, but since this is so heavily dependent on having that existing space there would be no point.

Interesting little tractor. I'd be nervous about the chicken wire and the lack of anti-dig skirting. Do you use it inside a more protective fence?

Yes it’s in a fenced area, where my Pyrenees keeps any kind of animal out of. I would definitely suggest anti-dig skirting for anyone using it out in the open. Or it would make a good tractor if one were to add wheels.

A very well-documented build. The under-deck run is an interesting feature -- making use of waste space and giving easy access for your daughter -- and I hope you'll update after a year or two to report on how it's working out.

Great concept! Love the practical flexibility.

Could you add plans/dimensions to make it easier to duplicate?

I don't have any plans went by the seat of my pants. Made it so very little cutting of the lumber. 8'x16'.

What a remarkable structure! Great photo-documentation, lacking only plan drawings and dimensions.

I particularly love the cupola -- perfect draft-free, overhead ventilation.

Thank you so much for your review. One of biggest lesson's learned is it is better to draw up plans first instead of the design as you go approach.

The only thing that this article lacks is precise dimensions for length, width, and center height.

Great build photos with all the necessary details!

An even better concept -- I'm thinking this would be wonderful for raising meaties and easy to partition to separate different ages or for a couple broodies.

I like this concept, but don't understand the arrangements for providing heat.

Is the roof the only access? What if it's raining?

Good construction and design details. An excellent size and I like the way your photos show the arrangement of the heat, feed, and water arrangements.

Being able to reach into all corners is so very important!

Looks very practical except for 1 thing I learned from experience,

A 4-foot depth from the door only works for tall people with long arms. For a shortie like me there's almost a foot of unreachable area where chicks can escape from my attempts to tend to them.

Love the flexibility of the multiple compartments and the various feeders and waterers.

Looks like a great size but I don't see any provision for protecting the chicks from weather.

It would be great to see the photos of the upgrades to better understand how it works for young chicks.

Looks like a great use of space. I can really see adapting this concept to my own needs because DH absolutely refuses to brood chicks indoors.

I'd like to know the actual dimensions and it would be useful to know how well the lamps held temperatures under what environmental conditions.

Interesting adaptation.

How do you adjust the heat in those tiny spaces? And how is it to clean?

Great adaptation of available materials and a good explanation of how it was done.

Do you use this inside a garage or shed or is it weatherproof?
