This needs more explanation as if it wasn't inbreeding, then what happened? Also, how did it turn out? Did the chick grow up into a fully functional hen or rooster? What does one do if they have one hatch like this?

It's a good article but it's distracting as the text size jumps back and forth. Also, pictures would be so helpful.

Maybe explain how to keep some grass or if there's something else we could grow that would stand up to chickens better? I think we all know they'll eat and scratch up a penned area but more info would be nice for how a person could improve their runs.

A good article showing the pros and cons of this incubator. This almost could go in the product rating forum but still is good information regardless.

I would have liked to see photos of the things you're pointing out as good or bad or just in general so people get a better idea. "A picture is worth 1,000 words," said some wise person. :)

It's a good article with very mindful reasons of benefits of owning chickens. It would be convincing too if someone's on the edge about getting chickens or not.

I'd add a couple more pictures, just because you have such good ones and good reason to. Such as, #7, I can imagine a couple of good pictures for that one! Only one or two more pictures I think would make this even better!

Good job!

I'm sorry but I had a hard time reading it with all of the typos. What I skimmed seems helpful. Also, it's "nipple" waterers, not "nibble" waterers.

If you clean up the typos and grammar, message me and I'll change my rating.

If you don't know how to do that and know someone who has MS Word, have them paste your article into a Word document and all of the misspellings should appear. There's also a Spell Checker you can click on to do it.

This is confusing and seems contradictive:

"Other people like to use coconut oil to keep the membrane moist and to avoid shrink wrapping. I do not do this only because nothing negative has ever happened with an assist. Maybe because I’m quick, have warm hands and a warm humid house or I’m just lucky. However, I do recommend you moisten the membrane with some oil.
Grab a que tip and just slightly moisten the tip. Then gently rub the membrane. You want to use as little as possible to avoid drowning the chick and causing further issues. Coconut oil is thicker and does not run, this is why I recommend it."

Also, please put your video on YouTube, then link it back to here so we're not led to another venue to see it. Otherwise, it's a good article about how to help a chick hatching when we really don't have a choice.

You need to post your video to Youtube first, then the link to here. It's a pretty short article but helpful how you do it. A couple of pictures would make it nicer too!

You sure get us thinking about what things we could use to make something better for our coop! Very ingenious ideas! I cringe at the chicken wire though. I'd suggest sometime trying to get some 1/2" hardware cloth, burying about a foot of it, and going around your run to help keep varments out. Chicken wire is known to only keep chickens in, not varments out.

Very informative of how you accomplish this! I too would worry about the coop being totally dry first before putting down your DE and bedding.

You might want to consider horse bedding pellets for bedding. That we only change once a year and it keeps the coop dry and odor-free. We have no mite issues, partly due to the dryness, and we too sprinkle DE on the floor and in nest boxes.

I like the thoroughness of this article that covers the cautions as well. I have used it very infrequently for the probiotics when I haven't made their ferment.

Pretty good article. I did however not like the "must have a heat lamp" as there are other types of brooder heaters. Also suggesting it for those of us who heat our coops is frowned upon by many. We do heat our coop, but with a thin oil-filled radiant heater. I'd be careful about using words like "must" as some will take you literal and that can be dangerous.

Still, I think this was very informative!

I like this and it's informative, but knowing very little about Colloidal Silver, an explanation of what it is, what strength, where to get it, etc. would be helpful.

The usual recommendation is rinsing the eye(s) with a sterile saline solution to help clean out anything that may be in there. If infected, Terramycin should take care of it.

It's great this worked for you and your chicken, but you could go a little bit further into other treatments too and in what situations should each be used. It's all right to add a link or two to let people research further if they want if it's something you're not personally familiar with.

I love the explanations of all the different types of feed. For some folks, it can get confusing and this makes it clear.

I put comments in the comment section referencing a couple of things.

This is another bookmarked article! Thank you!

A lot of great pictures, not much for explanations though.

Also, as others mentioned, chicken wire isn't good to use as too many predators can easily get through it. 1/2" hardware cloth keeps out just about everything.

It looks very nice though!

Neat way to build a coop in a barn for free! A lot of consideration for ventilation. It would be nice to see it finished. Was there a chicken door for them to free range or leads to a pen?
