Great job up-cycling something that would probably just be scrapped. It looks great and I love area you created for new chicks. I live in Florida where hurricanes are a concern and there is always the worry of having to evacuate during the summer months. This is great coop idea for hurricane prone places that could easily be packed up and moved to safe area.

Good article on some interesting breeds. I had heard of some of these chicken breeds, and others I had not. I appreciated the article because it was on a topic that you don’t see all the time. I like that, in a time of fast growing production meat birds, someone thought to mention some great breeds that need our help.

Wow...awesome coop filled with great ideas. Love the lower hardware cloth windows and the upper dormer style crank windows for ventilation. This article had a funny, clever title, was fun to read, and had great pictures. Thanks for sharing!

This article has some good info on the red fox, but I have to say that all of my predation from foxes came in the middle of the day. They are not afraid of people and the ones near my house came into my yard in the broad daylight and picked off my guineas while I was outside. While keeping your flock in at night is a great idea, it won’t completely protect them from fox.

Thanks, it's been yrs since I even logged in here. We sadly don't have chickens anymore. We had to move but the coop still stands. I guess our evil landlord got a awesome shed when we moved ?
I'm hoping to have chickens again soon!

I liked that both positive and negatives were listed. I used sand with my guineas in the warmer months. It kept them cooler and they dust bathed in it, so it worked well.

I love guineas and get annoyed that they always get such a bad rap. It is nice to see something positive for a change! I always found mine to be great attentive parents...even the males! Plus, they do an awesome job for bug control and I think their feathers are beautiful!
Good article....thanks for sharing!
