Excellent though provoking article. A long time ago, 90s I think, I read that the facial features of babies, human and otherwise, stimulated parts of the brain leading to bonding; likely oxytocin. Who doesn't look at a tiny baby and think its precious whether human, canine or fowl?
Some good information. USDA link is appreciated.
Great that author discussed debeaking as part of unethical practice.
Higher star rating is possible with details on space requiements per bird and better references to claims.
Not an article. More of a post about prefab coop. The coop and run do look nice. Would be great to have an update as to how it faired since it’s inaugural debut in 2014.
Not an article but it’s on the list to rate as one, hence low stars. I am willing to revise rating if/when details on process is added.
Aesthetically it looks quite nice.
Once in a while there comes along a truly remarkable story showing human compassion for animal welfare to such a degree that it touches ones soul. Matilda’s story is such a story. The article initially began like a case study on frostbite, but the author managed to, very effectively, marry medical management of a serious injury with the art of nursing an old friend back to health. I am moved.
This article reminds me of the book, A dogs purpose by W. Bruce Cameron.
Bravo!!
Great examples for extra protein treats and why it’s needed. Another choice is canned tuna and canned cat food. Its highly important to keep in mind that anything beyond a balanced commercial diet is a treat and should be limited as to not exceed 10% of daily ration per bird to prevent obesity and ill health.
