The Egg song, it’s not about the egg; it’s an escort call.

Most definitely an interesting idea that the egg song is a call for a rooster. In natural habitat it would make perfect sense. The main part of the flock would have each other to warn of danger, but the solo laying hen is at risk. The observations are well stated, and I like the first hand knowledge of the flock and it's interaction. Nice work.

I found the layout and information very interesting. The descriptions of the different types is good. I did feel like I was waiting for more at the end though. Example pictures with the descriptions of the types would be a great addition. Overall, nice article. Thanks.

Good information, well put together. Personally I would like a bit more information on each breed. But I understood that it wouldn't all fit in one article. Definitely worth looking at for help deciding what direction to start.

I see so many posts about this, everyone with poultry should read. It's so much easier to prevent things. All it takes is some knowledge and preparing. True, not all cases can be prevented, but if only half can how many healthier, happier birds and owners would be out there.

Great idea, taking the tractor to another level. I had considered making mine mobile but couldn't settle on a design. Your double runner base with the wheels between is ingenious. If I build another, I will be borrowing the idea;)

This is something that I have been debating on. I don't have severe winter's, but it does get quite wet and windy. This information is quite helpful and being based on actual observation is great. Thanks so much for contributing your experiences.

The engineering in this box is quite a feat. You possess a great skill set to do what you have here. The fit and finish are also quite good. Taking the time and effort to do this shows a level of caring for what would have otherwise been a rehomed or culled rooster.

A nice quick and to the point article on the benefits of sand. The only thing I would do differently would be place a landscape cloth barrier between the sand and the soil to reduce the two mixing and conserve the sand. Overall, good article with good information. Anyone with issues like a wet, muddy run should consider this option.

This is an interesting change of view from the "standard" thoughts of keeping chickens. It sounds like a good idea, maybe a little more effort to get started, but should have good return. I would consider trying this when time comes for a new coop.

This is a good article for a lot of information you may need, but hope to never have to use. Special needs in anything can be challenging to cope with. This makes it less intimidating. Potentially saving birds that would otherwise be culled. Great work.
