    We just use warm water to clean them up when it happens which is not very often. If you let it go too long it will cause the bird to get lethargic. Clean it up, give vitamin water and keep an eye on him.

    I've seem this a few times myself. We frequently show them the high protein chick starter/grower and dip there beaks in for vitamin water every chance we get. We keep newborns on vitamin water for at least the first couple weeks. Hope they pull through for you.

    How long to acclimate a new jake

    I keep them confined for a month and then let them out with the others. I do this for all my free ranging birds (chickens, turkeys and ducks) Haven't lost one yet.

    Ours hatch between day 27 and 29. No "early birds" as it were. Really happy with my 95% hatch rate.
