If you have owned sex links I want your opinion

We have red and black sexlinks and they peck no more than the others. They are very sweet chickens and great layers. The feather picking got to be really bad during the summer, so we decided to switch them to a higher (gamebird) protein feed. The feather picking/eating stopped.

Yes I agree about the hatcheries, we asked them if the crested breeds would be ok with the standard chickens and they said "sure...

    Head injuries arn't always fatal

We had a terrible thing happen, but it is ending happily! Our BWP chickens have always gotten peck on their little heads. I guess those beautiful puffs of feathers on their heads have always been just too much of a temptation. We came home about 6 days ago to find one of our babies with a actual...

    Chickens don't like new feed

I have 3, 19 wk old BLack White Polish hens. I switched them to laying pellets on Sunday, and I don't think they have eaten a bit of it. They have been on starter/grower since hatching. Will it take a while for them to adjust to this new feed?

Looking for young pullets to add to our flock. We have a nice mixture so anything we add to them will feel welcome. We are about 30 mins south of Dallas (Ennis) so if you need to cull your flock of overflow, give us a shout.

Tell me about your speckled sussex

we ordered 2 SS from McM but one died, so we only have our little Mary, but I can say she is one of our favorite chickens. So sweet, very gentle and just beautiful. We wouldn't mind have 10 more just like her.
