We used non-toxic out-door "barn" paint from Lowe's... I want to say a pretty large can of it was only 10 or 11 bucks and it's designed specifically for outdoor animal shelters. Down side is it only comes in three colors (green, red, and white).
I posted an ad on craigslist.com and here and had a couple people email me from the craig's list ad... I just don't feel comfortable giving him away to total strangers. What if he's mistreated? I would have no way of knowing it...
Oh, I'm going to cry... I can't stand to get rid of him not just because I'll miss him but because he and Bela have never been apart. I don't know if anyone will be willing to take care of him temporarily for me but I would be willing to pay for the favor.

Just found out that our 4 month old EE is a rooster (and is crowing away every morning). He's a total sweetheart and it breaks my heart to let him go but we cannot have roosters where we live.

I don't know much about different breeds of chickens but that first picture didn't look very roo-ish... not much of a tail to speak of. And I have heard of crowing hens, no kidding.
Unfortunately we're breaking the law even having chickens here at all (even though we have a big back yard) so having a noisy bird drawing attention to us is a bad thing. I know, I know it's pretty irresponsible to have chickens where we're not zoned for it but we plan on moving later this year...
