I found another one this morning except this time the head was completely gone but insides there....I have put out traps and secured the fence better. I am hoping for a better outcome tomorrow morning. Oh and I put a baby moniter out there for tonight. My husband thinks im crazy. LOL

Insides gone out of two hens in two days. There were a lot of feathers laying around and the bodies were in the back part of their wooded pen. The heads were intact. One foot gone and one wing gone. Heart and bladder(i think) still there, but all bowels and stomach gone! The other days I lost...

I have dusted mine and it stoped the plucking...I think they didnt like the taste of it.

I have watched mine literlly stand below the occupied box squacking at the hen inside as if to say "hurry up in there". Ofcourse there is another box three feet away empty. too funny.

I have looked on the chicken treat chart and it doesnt say that the green part of the rind is ok....just want to make sure before I feed it to them. Does anyone know?

we are finishing adding on to the chicken pin and my husband says.... "lets get a small goat to put in here with the chickens for the kids" will this work?....new run area will be about 30 x 50.

thank you for the reply. i see that you have faverolles also....have you crossed them with anything and have pictures that you could show me? my EE eggs are sooo much larger than the Fav. and that is one reason that im leaning towards mixing them. im suprised taht i might be able to sell them...

im not sure on the watery whites but i will comment on the shells....i put out oyster shells free choice but i have found that my girls perfer the egg shells that i microwave for 1 1/2 minute (let cool) then crumble and scatter in the yard.

yes...we were out side all day yesterday and i saw her in that box...all other eggs accounted for per chicken...?

I have a trio of faverolles and three EE hens. My husband says let what ever hatch that is under our frequent EE broody (next time she decides to go broody). I am feeling guilty for mixing the breeds. The eggs from the EEs are much bigger than the faverolles. I am in this for the eggs but...

my faverolle hen usually lays a cream colored egg and yesterday she layed a white one....? any thoughts on what is happening?

make sure to stay with your birds during processing to make sure YOUR birds are the ones you will come home with.
