Myth: Two roosters put together will always fight to the death.
T/F: False
Story: I have like 7 roosters who never fight. Worse they'll do is kick each other off a hen.
She could be hiding eggs too, possibly? I have a speckled sussex and two wyandottes that I haven't gotten a single egg from, but I think they're laying somewhere weird.
I've had two chickens in my tiny 8x9 room on their own occasions. If one looks at me funny I'm already bringing the cage out... can never be too careful
Eh, some have gotten lucky. Hell, with NFTs some people have made hundreds of thousands by buying a picture at the right time. There's merit to it and it definitely is a way to make money, but saying it's the future is ludicrous.
I can't listen to the video right now but wheezing often indicates an upper respiratory infection. Taking her to a vet to prescribe antibiotics is often the easiest way of fixing her up, though sometimes you can acquire antibiotics for livestock online or in stores.
I'm a not an adult, and my mom doesn't have an account. We're looking into various methods of buying chicks, would I be able to post here with her permission? :)
I have a runt Light Brahma named Hamburger, since when her flockmates weighed a pound or so she weighed about as much as, well, a hamburger. She's still noticeably smaller but is perfectly healthy. Some birds are just small.
I 100% free range all 30+ of my birds on two acres towards the front of our property. No supervision unless we happen to be outside for some reason (which we often are). Hawks don't bother since the amount of roosters we have would make it a suicide attempt to try and nab any of the birds. Zero...
Hey there, would I be able to participate in the BST forum with parental permission? :) Me and my mom are looking for different ways to purchase birds, but she doesn't have an account here. (...yet!)
I wouldn't beat yourself up over it. Choking is pretty damn rare for a chicken and I would do the same thing- throwing chopped carrots to my birds. Accidents happen.
I've not particularly heard of it. We've had huge vehicles rip down the front road and loud machinery start up and all my birds never do much more than some anxious clucking.
If she was sensitive though, I'm sure it's possible, but I must admit I think it's unlikely.
Abrupt and sudden death...
