Does anyone know if the little pullet we hatched that is half Welsummer bantam and half EE bantam is considered an Olive Egger? She hasn't started laying yet and we're wondering if the eggs will be green.

Before that first ice storm we had this month when it got so terribly cold, we had a Bantam EE go broody. Hmmm....She had two eggs and I ended up putting two more Silkie eggs with her. We really didn't think she could hatch them in all that bad weather. She is in just a small 4 chicken coop...

We currently have 2 blue silkie and 1 white silkie hens with a blue silkie roo. Then we have a welsummer and 2 EE hens with a welsummer roo. All Bantams.......So, that's what we will try to hatch first. After that, who knows. LOL!

We currently have eight bantams. So, I can bundle up, clean the coop and feed and water in about 15 minutes. Then 5 minutes to check the water a time or two during the day and break the ice. Even during bad ice storms it's not that big a deal. Now if we had a BUNCH of chickens and it took a...

Well, we finally started getting eggs! The little Welsummer is the first to start laying and we got 5 eggs in 7 days. Not bad. Now if the others will just start. Y'all might remember that all 6 of our hens are bantams. So, it took 4 of the eggs to make two egg, sausage, and cheese...

Do any of you raise cream legbars? I'm thinkin' I might need two or three.

4 Silkies, Pair of Bantam Welsummers, and 2 Bantam EE pullets. Do you count bantams as a whole chicken, or just half?

I would like your opinions. We got some bantams this spring and they should start laying in another few weeks or so. Some have told us their eggs are too small to eat, and other people say it just takes more of them. What do you all think. The bantams we got are EEs, Welsummers, and Silkies...

Jobele made a very good point. Most breeds will be friendly, gentle, and fun if you interact with them a lot from day one. Ours get excited when they see my wife open the back door because they know she is bringing treats. They can't wait for her to sit down so they can jump in her lap...
