Thanks so much, everyone. I’m hoping my health improves, but I also want to be prepared in the event it doesn’t. I know my family wouldn’t take care of them and I don’t want them to get the short end of the stick. I have 40 chickens, separated into two flocks, and 7 peafowl now (my older...

Hello, everyone. Haven't been around in awhile because my health and quality of life in general haven't been good. I was mostly checking in here to see if any of y'all know if there's any places in CO that would take in an entire flock of chickens and peafowl. I'm trying to make sure all my...

I usually have fertile eggs in the spring. I’m not going to be hatching/rescuing anymore birds for the foreseeable future (not a great year), so I won’t be needing the eggs for hatching. Mine are all barnyard mixes, though.

Thanks! They are mixed. The hen is a porcelain d’ulcce & I don’t know which rooster helped make them. XD It’s either the Egyptian Fayoumi or the Polish/Sebright mix.

Oh, lord. One of my Wonder Twins has suddenly developed into a rooster. I now have 14 and am going to go slowly insane... Well, maybe I won’t but my neighborhood might. ;)

With the help of the posts here (and the vet trimming his beak), Boo Radley is still going strong! We are trying the “oatmeal” crumbles in a bowl and Boo is a very enthusiastic eater. He and his brother, Crowley, have figured out how to sneak out of their pen and are always waiting for me to...

I thought it would (I was definitely being lazy :p). He seems to be doing okay so far, but I like to be over informed just in case. LOL He’s made it two months, I figured I better get prepared in the event he gets any bigger!

Does anyone have experience with cross beak? I currently have a chick that has it & I want to make sure he gets enough to eat/drink but I’m kinda winging it right now.

If I didn’t have 13 roosters already, I would. Hopefully, the suggestion about will be able to help!

Hello! Just wanted to share what my last “adopted” rooster looks like now because he’s all grown up & not a baby anymore! Handsome Bob - not just a clever name! Sparta seems interested in him, but he’s still in the “teenage” phase & doesn’t really know what he’s doing yet. I’ve also got 10...

I have two different Brinsea (a large one & a small one) & I really like them. They don’t run on battery, so a power outage would cause issues - we get them a lot & I had to rush it out to a car to plug in there while driving to a house with power still on.

My peafowl greenhouse did not do well during the blizzard. It was already weaken from the hail damage last summer & the wind yesterday just ripped panels right off. Thankfully, none of the birds were injured. Just got snowed on. I’ll be happy to see this winter over.

Sometimes they post swap info on Craig’s List, other times I just see the notices at the stores themselves. In other news, I’m so glad I have a rooster sanctuary so that all but 4 of the 10 could get frostbite last week. :hit Holy smokes. I could have gone all winter without hitting -15!

Unfortunately, my sanctuary is at 10 roosters right now & that’s my personal max. I don’t know if there are any other poultry sanctuaries, specifically, but you might want to check with local animal shelters. That’s where I rescued one of the roosters I took in last year.
