Reviews by roostersandhens

Pros: Friendly, Good Layers, Not Broody, Nice Color, Etc.
Cons: There isn't anything I dislike.. I just worry about getting roosters, I hear they are aggressive.
I have 2 RIRs. Red and Ruthie. Ruthie was a rescue so she is shy, but not aggressive or mean. Red was raised by me as a chick and is a very friendly bird! She likes to be picked up. They are great layers. They don't go broody, which is good, I have enough broody hens! I had trouble deciding between 4 1/2 stars or 5 stars on this breed. They are good chickens anyway, and I have no dislikes. Hope this helps!
Pros: Sweet, Unique, Good Layers, Beautiful, Just great chickens!
Cons: I can't really think of any, I will edit the review if I do!
I had one Plymouth Rock hen. She was old. I rescued her with 5 others off the side of the road. Some cruel person must have dumped them their, people can be so terrible. The 6 hens had mites, and they were just a mess! So I took them home and medicated them. However a few months later she died. Her name was Doodle. I loved her. She was so unique, and had quite a personality. The first time I hand fed her, she came up pecked, jumped back, and kept doing that. It looked like she was dancing! She was a good layer for her old age. She didn't lay much, I don't eat eggs, so I didn't care! The only reason she didn't lay much is because of her age though. She would lay about 2 eggs a day. I am not sure of her age, but she could have been like 6, she seemed old. After she died (she got sick) I cried. She was such a sweet unique hen who could never be replaced. I do like this breed a lot!

I LOVE Black Australorps! My Australorp hens are SO sweet! They beg to be held. The little cuties! Their beautiful black feathers shine green in the sunlight. I had a broody Australorp, BEST MOM EVER! She watched them so well. It was so much fun to watch her raise the little cuties. Australorps are my favorite breed, no doubt about it! If you are getting chickens for the first time they are the best breed to get. Pictures:

Pros: Lay pastel eggs, they have cute puffy cheecks, they are lovely birds, Good layers, and the roosters are soooo pretty!
Cons: None that I can think of
I love Americauans! They are so pretty! They have great pea combs small waddles (when they have waddles). This is a picture of my 1yr old Americauna rooster Eddy:
I have 2 or 3 Americaunas (1 might be an EE). The rooster lets you hold him, the EE/Americauna hen went through a lot when she was younger (I had rescued her from the side of the road) and still is ok sweet. The other Americauna so wild! Not tame at all! She was so sweet as a chick too! I don't know what happened but I still love her! My Americauna rooster weighs almost 8 pounds he's a big guy! Americaunas are the cutest things! I love their puffy cheeks (so cute)! I request getting an Americauna!
