Got this the other day, it was a few feet from the nestbox, they must have shoved it out, they pushed out the cracked eggs out of the nestbox in the winter as well.
So I overheard an employee at ts saying that a particular breed they have, can lay up to 5 eggs a day, is this possible? I definitely questioned him on it. It was a red variety mixed with Rhode Island red and leghorn. I've heard one a day is pretty much the max
Funky bloom? I get these occasionally and one I cracked that looked like this appeared tainted (the yolk was dark orange in spots and light orange) and smelled off. Is this an egg where the bloom isn't properly formed? Or is this an instance of where the shell is porous and just inclined to seep...
Is this frostbite? She's had something similar in October and it ended up being dried on yogurt. It's been in the negatives lately and this showed up. It feels hard and seems to be getting thicker. Hard to get a good close up they move so fast.
Is my chicken molting? She's 9 mos old..more feathers lately in coop and run and dry flaky stuff that comes off the feathers are in the coop. Could the diet have anything to do with it? They've gone on a potential strike against their layer pellets...so they eat more scratch and hand outs..rice...
The tips of my black sex links combs look like they're turning white....it's not cold out what could be the issue?
When I first got her a month ago
Now...
Have any of you found an issue with the chickens eating/drinking with these on? My waterer is a foot or so off the ground and the food too. They eat a lot off the ground as well.
Thank you for such an informative post, I've supplied myself with pretty much everything chicken health related but not the things you have pictured . I do have
Would this work or should I try to find the things you pictured?
Here's some pictures of their poo this morning, 2 days after...
I'll continue to look at their excrement in the coop to try to determine if there's something wrong. Looked up histomonas, showed there's no effective treatment but that antibiotics might help. Here's a picture of the pops the day after the bloody looking poo.
Sorry I'm flooding this...
I don't think they have cocci... They're not lethargic, eating well, and lively except one little hen that gets picked on (she's slow to eat and avoids the others whenever she can. I noticed a few broken blood feathers near her tail. I think what I saw may have been blood from her broken...
Oh, I didnt even consider that, I guess I figured they'd catch it right away if that was the case. I'll start medicating them tomorrow morning. Do they need 2 sources. of water, one corid and one unmedicated? Thanks for all of your guys' help!
What's Amprolium? Is that corid? No change in environment, they're about 7 months old. Have had them for 3weeks. Not sure if they've been vaccinated or if they've been fed medicated feed. They're being fed pelleted feed, scratch and scraps.
I did actually think their coop looked like a crime...
