Lol getting poked is not very fun. We have some bushes that grow red berries and look like thick holly trees. Thankfully the chickens aren't happy with being poked either. :lau
No it's not completely normal. She could have had extra calcium and had to get rid of it. The first couple of eggs a hen lays can hurt a little but after that they are fine. You can't stop them laying, its a fact of life. Some people think that it always hurts them and we shouldn't eat their...
Looks to be about five days to a week old. Gender is probably male, judging by its comb. It's comb is already growing and slightly red in color. Once the neck feathers come in, check to see if they are round or pointed. Pointed: rooster - round: hen (usually). Hope I helped :plbb
Lol I have like 100 chickens and only 16 roos. The most I ever get in a hatch are about 10-15 pullets and 1-5 cockerels. I'm lucky. :lau The Xs look bantam. Maybe a wellsummer cross?
It does have the ragged feathers like a frizzle cross. Or maybe it is lazy and doesn't want to clean its feathers. It doesn't however look like a Polish. More like a golden comet cross.
OK sorry. It must be weather/climate like the majority of people said. Has it been humid, muggy, or rainy? Sure has been down here. :he nothing but rain.
All except for the first supposed RIR chick look like pullets. In case I'm wrong, check and see if the neck feathers are round or pointed. Hope I helped ^-^.
Are it's neck feathers pointed or round? It looks like a hen, it has no curled tail feathers and it's comb is pale but the neck feathers are more accurate as I've been told. :bun hope I helped
Lol I would love to take them but I already have over 100 chickens :plbb they sound like very nice birds. Good luck finding them a good home! :bun:bun:bun:bun:bun
You might need a different incubator. Do you already have eggs in it or no? If you want a somewhat cheap and stable incubator, there is a video on youtube that is helpful. The title is "how to build a $20 incubator" or something.
YW, it doesn't sound like she has any respiratory problems. Or bochulisum (I don't think that is spelled right but oh well). Thanks, I'll stay tuned. :fl
The poor thing :barnie
I think you could also try putting sugar in the water in place of the electrolytes. Was there anything dead or moldy feed anywhere near the pen or area where she roams? Does she wheeze?
Good luck! I raise a variety of poultry and have little to no problem with it. If you end up hatching or getting a rooster in the future, be careful. They can be annoying, aggressive, or completely sweet, but they can protect their flock, make more chicks, and even be taught to go after...
Stripey, my wyandotte is setting eggs right now. She's sitting on roughly nineteen and refuses for me to lessen the load a bit. She is a good mother who has on eggs before and hatched out some chicks. Prefer a dark and calm place so I set up a dog carrier with no door and put her eggs in there...
I love wyandottes, mostly because they are beautiful show breed. I may be new BYC but I love and know a lot about chickens. Your chickens are down right adorable by the way! :bunlike the bunny lol. If you need any help from me just ask! :D
About the neck, the duckling could have been awkwardly growing in the egg. We had a Brahma chick who had the same problem and grew out of it. About the rest idk
