That long on a regular day wouldn't bother me, but are these the same eggs that are in the final stages?? Due to hatch shortly?? I'm wondering if maybe giving them the eggs late, they don't yet understand that they are about to hatch.
But... in 60° temps, I wouldn't worry too much about it...
Hope the little injured one heals well :fl
Where'd you get them, if you don't mind saying? Never seen "blue splash" referred to with both words. Chocolate splash yes, but blue splash has always just been "splash". Maybe since chocolates are so much more popular now, we are qualifying blue splash?
Was kinda hoping for splashes.
my last hatch of 4 eggs from my frizzle was 1 smooth blue and 3 splash frizzles, and of those 4, only one of the frizzles is a male. :clap
Poor Fiona. Molting looks so hard on them, and after a broody spell, be sure and keep a good eye on her.
My Fiona hatched her babies Saturday and Sunday. 4 out of 5. The last egg was laying in the nest box, pipped, but dead. I didn't bother her much because it was really cold and windy over the weekend.
I did move them to a grow out coop tonight at dark. Would have left them, but I'm going to be...
:clap
I have a serama broody i am trying to discourage. Keep taking her eggs, booting her out of the nest box, etc. Trying not to resort to the frozen stuff or the cage. So today its cool and wet out, and i left the lid up on the nest box she is sitting in, hoping the cool air will discourage...
:frow crazy Fiona! I finally gave in to my Fiona and gave her 5 eggs from my blue frizzle, which turned out to be good, because i haven't gotten many more eggs from her. She's on day 19, so expecting some babies any time!
Congrats on the upcoming wedding. I feel like we are kindred spirits, the...
Heehee, thanks! I look at them and smile every time. They really are some of the cutest chicks in my yard.
:clap awesome
What all breeds do you have now?
That really is sad. :hugs
And silkies aren't the brightest to begin with.
My youngest serama babies learned the ladder so quickly this time! It's so cute to see them progress. Roosting and going in on their own, our kids are growing up!! :D
They have accepted the 5 day younger baby just fine now. But one of the original ones may end up a failure to thrive victim. It had a little pasty butt, and momma kept cleaning it, but it got kinda raw, and i think others have pecked the area. This chick is super tiny, smaller than the...
I got another lucky momma/baby shot :D
But I don't understand something. I think this might be the chick that hatched in the incubator, almost a week after the others. Its been out there for 2 days, and one momma is protecting it, the other one is grabbing it by the neck and slinging it...
