Hi everyone,
It has been a long time since I have been on here and I need some advice now.
We just noticed that 1 of our ducks is hatching ducklings tonight. Do we need to separate her and the babies from the other ducks or will they be ok? We have 16 ducks total.
Thank you in advance.
I have a 2 yr old Rouen female and she all of the sudden she swelled up like someone stuck an air hose in her and filled her up with air. She's still eating and drinking and acting fine.
Any ideas?
How many of you have a chicken that lives in the house? I have a 3 month old Gold Lace Wyndotte that we brought in about 2 weeks ago because she was 1/2 dead from the others not letting her eat or drink. I tried to put her back out on the 4th but they came after her as soon as she was down. She...
Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I've been on here. I have some chickens that are breaking and eating the eggs. I have tried using golf balls (cause I was told they get frustrated when they cant break them and stop), we have also started letting free range our yard all day every day...
I have a question. I have some Buff Orpingtons and some Easter Egg chickens that are just now old enough to lay. I have been finding white eggs out side or on the floor. I'm assuming they're from my newer babies because my yearlings all lay in the nesting boxes.
My question is, why are they...
I got a 2 day old turkey today (never had turkeys before). It was purchased at the local farm store where I work, but we didn't give it to the person who ordered it because it cant stand. 1 leg goes front and the other goes backward.
Does anyone know what it could be caused from?
My supervisor...
All winter long I was getting 10 to 12 eggs a day and up til a few days ago, I was still getting that number, now I'm getting 6 to 10.
I had a heat lamp on them all winter and now I don't, could that be why they have slowed down? Is this normal?
Thanks
Last year was my 1st year with chickens, so I'm still learning things. We got more chicks and I was wondering what the best way is to introduce them to the older ones when the chicks are big enough? I know they need to be introduced slowly, just like any other animal, but how long should I keep...
I want to start selling my Pekin duck eggs, but I'm not sure how much to ask for them. I haven't seen anyone around my area selling duck eggs, just chicken. I don't want to over charge for them.
If anyone sells and wouldn't mind telling me what you sell them for, that would give me an idea what...
I have a 8 month old male Pekin who is very "mean". I have 2 runners (also 8 months) and the Pekin chases 1 around and just pulls feathers out and is just very mean. To be honest, I don't know if the Runners are males or females. They're tail feathers curl like a male Pekins, so we're thinking...
My Pekin is laying her eggs either on the ground in the mudd or in a dog house that has straw in it but is still muddy from them bringing it in on their feet. The eggs get muddy. My question is, are they still good for eating? It's just mud but sometimes they are pretty dirty.
I have a few different breeds of chickens, all around the same age (some a week younger). Anyway, all my "bigger" chickens have been laying since about Aug. But I have not found any eggs from my little Banties. They are about 7 months old. Is it possible that they will not lay or maybe they just...
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question but I'm sure someone can help me.
I am wanting to start selling my eggs. I get a dozen in 2 days so I have eggs coming out of my ears.....LOL Since this is my first time with chickens, what is the best way to handle them for selling...
I have a question. I have 9 ducks (7 Pekins ( appears to be 1 female and 6 males) & 2 fawn runners (looks like 1 of each) ) and they live with my chickens. Someone, not sure if it's my duck or 1 of chcikens has started to lay eggs. I have found 2 so far, 1 per day, in a dog house that I have...
My rooster, Dudley, died yesterday. I wish I knew from what to make sure my other chickens & ducks can't get it. It was strange. At least for me but I've never owned chickens before. He was sneezing ( no nasel discharge), then he acted like he was choking and labored breathing, then he would...
1 of my Bantum roosters is trying to crow. The first time I heard him, I thought something was eating them. It sounded so "sick"....LOL I watched him the other day and he is so cute. He sits up as tall as he can, looks like he's this big tough "man" and this noise comes out...... I couldn't...
I have a barred rock rooster that I believe is sick. He sounds like he's sneezing. I don't see any discharge from his nose or anything, but he is making this sound that I am assuming is a sneeze. Can anyone recommend an antibiotic that I can use? I figure I will just put it the water for all of...
I'm sorry if this is not the right place for this post, but I need some advice on dworming. I have 27 chicks and 9 ducklings (ranging in age from 8 weks - 15 weeks. 1 duckling 15 weeks).
I work at a farm store and we carry a wormer called Wazine 17. It says NOT to use it on layers. Has anyone...
I just want to say that everyone on this site is awesome. I am new to the whole duck & chicken thing. I have posted a few questions and I have gotten advice and support on here. It's great.
I work at a farm store and get alot of people, like me, who are starting with chicks and ducklings and I...
I have a 5 7 week old Pekin ducklings and 1 of them isn't acting right all of the sudden. She/he more or less just lays around. It's still drinking but I don't know about eating and it's still very alert. It will run from you when you get by it. But when I picked it up, it didn't fight me. I...
