I wanted to let everyone that the duck is walking again. I put her on Purina Flock Raiser and just kept throwing her in the pond for excercise and cleaning and she evidentually came back. She is 1/2 the size of the other ducks and I think that is because she didn't have as much access to...
Wow, thanks for the tip. I had no idea. I do have Brewer's Yeast but would probably have to go to a vitamin store for the niacin. what would the dosage be? Could I just sprinkle BY on the feed or would that be a waste? Feed ducks seperate from chickens? (pain to do this as they currently...
Hello,
I have a young Ancona duck (just feathered out) that is unable to stand. It is able to push itself about on it's belly, but is unable to stand. The others seem to be fine. Any ideas what could cause this or what to do about it?
Living conditions:
fed: all purpose layer crumber w/...
Okay, thanks Pop, that is good to know. The feedstores are sold out for the season, so I will have to look on Craigslist. I have 15 Ancona ducklings coming in two weeks and thought MAYBE the goose would like to be a giant babysitter for them.
Thanks for the input. My questions have been put to rest so to speak. Something grabbed my goose and made off with her early this AM. I candled the eggs and they were all clear Double :( Now I am not sure what to do w/ the remaining goose. It doesn't seem to interested in the ducklings.
Good morning,
I have a pair of "mutt" geese and got them as 'toddlers'. There are very similiar in coloring and I can barely see a difference in physical traits other than one has a squared tail and one has more of a pointy tail, but not 100% sure if that is consistant.
I have never seen...
Just wanted to thank everyone that contributed to my post, I know it must be tiring to answer the same types of questions all the time. None of my eggs have hatched. Some did develop but just died in the shell I guess. I am very disappointed that I lost several Muscovey, a doz Marans, a doz...
My apologies if this answer is somewhere in the forum, I just don't have time to search. After losing 24 eggs to a power outage I started again with duck eggs on 2.14. I added turkey eggs on 2.26.12. This morning, stupid me accidently unplugged the incubator and when I got home (8 hours...
I just got a 1000 gallon tank for my ducks It has a drain at the bottom. Does anyone have suggestions on how to properly manage this large size of 'pond' ? Do I get a pump and filtration system to help keep it clean? Do I get some special type of fish that eats duck poo and algae? Do I...

Your biggest threat in the city will be dogs. Not knowing your set up, make sure you have an excellent fence and places for your ducks/chickens to hide. Check with city code to see if Geese are allowed and check with your neighbors to...
This is SO fun!
Here are my guys. Please comment on what color you think they are.
This is my white male. He came out of chocolate hen with a white head. I don't know who is father is. Is this the CREAM version? I don't see the genetic formula from Muscovy Central on producing a...
Hi,
Here is an article on lice. Fortuneatley they are species specific.

However, there are "feather" lice and therefore whatever has a feather can get the lice. I would provide a dust bath of DE to help reduce the...
Hi,
I am new to this forum and I am new to the Muscovy duck. I have a few questions for the group.
I tried looking on Amazon but did not find a book dedicated to this bird so was wondering if anyone knew of a book that specializes in this breed. Is there a book specifically on these...
