I hatched out some eggs this weekend. The parents are white rock (roo) barred rock (hen).
Two little guys came out with these toes. The other looks just the same. There were 4 chicks that hatched, two are yellow, two are black with white splotches on thier heads. The yellow chicks' feet are...
IN my last hatch, I had a baby hatch with the yolk sack unabsorbed and the poor thing was dragging this bloody mess around until we culled it.
Last night (day 20) I had one hatch and it's got the same problem. What is going on? Are my temps to high and they are starting to hatch too early...
I have a hen sitting on about a dozen eggs. I have really no idea how long she's been broody, as she built her nest and laid her eggs under the floor boards of an old dog house in the yard. But I've been checking every day, listening for peeps and seeing if I can see anything. When the chicks...
Today is day 16 and I have my eggs in cartons tilted at a 45degree angle, turning the carton from side to side 3 times a day. On day 18, do I put the carton flat on the bottom or still tilted? Or should I take them out of the carton and lay them on their sides on the wire?
Thanks
I received 6 Ameraucana chicks from Ideal on 8/8. On Friday morning, I found 1 dead in the brooder. On Saturday, 2 more were dead. I thought that maybe they were getting too cold. The overnight temp recently dropped from the 70s to the mid to low 60s, but they have a heat lamp. So I moved...
I started with 12 eggs from my flock (all BR hen X white rock roo). On day 10, I removed 2 because they were not developing. Tonight -- day 14-- I got one out to candle and I dropped it on the floor!
So I didn't even try to candle anymore. I'll try again tomorrow.
Butterfingers!

#2 She has feathered legs and 4 toes, if that helps any.
Thanks in advance.
I'm thinking this one is a boy
And this one is a girl
And I don't know about this one. If I'm right about the other two, I hope this one is a pullet, of course.
Thanks in advance for your guesses.
Here's the 5 who hatched yesterday/last night.
They are all mixed breeds. The daddy of the ones in the 4 corners is a White Rock and the mom is either a barren rock or this unidentified breed that we have The eggs are all brown and I have no way of knowing who layed what, you know. The...
I know I ask a lot of breed questions. Sorry. I got him off craigslist with a frizzle pullet and the guy said he thought he was an un-frizzled frizzle? He's a bantam size, and his feet are feathered, but he wasn't keen on me taking so many pictures.
His name's Harry Potter, if that helps...
I've got two of them. I got a deal at the farm I buy my chicken because the farmer's wife didn't know what they were, they came in with a shipment of Cornish Cross. They were two littel odd balls...so I took them. Plus myt DD thought they were cute! And they are!
This is a pic of my roo, Ron. I posted a pic of him before, but no one knew exactly what he was.
I found this pic on the net. It's a Norfolk Grey.
Is that what Ron is? I looks very similar to me. What do you think?
Also any guesses on what the hen is? They are both bantams and...
I have 11 eggs in the bator and I could see movement in 8 of them. I'm very excited. This is my first time and I can't believe that it might actually work!
I got these from the bantam pen at my local poultry farm. Farmer told me they were seabrights. Is he right?
Also, any guess on age of this silkie?
TIA!
