Am getting ready to set my goose eggs. Can I lay the eggs sideways on a chicken rail in the turner and just let the turner move them or do I have to place in a tray and then hand turn them ( I am using a cabinet incubator )? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
I have 7 coturnix quail inside in a rubbermaid container. Someone must have jumped out between the barriers I had on the top last night. I searched and search for that little booger until I had to leave for work this morning. Are they like chicks and tend to stay by the others or do they just...
The PO lost a shipment of Priority eggs coming to me. I called their Customer Service line with the confirmation number, they confirmed it was accepted but nothing after that. I filled out their website form...it went straight to my PO. My Postmaster called me and confirmed that it appeared...
I have 3) coturnix that are about 3 weeks old...may I add my newborns to the same brooder? So far I have 5 newbies, hopefully more by the time the weekend is here. I know with chickens as long as the newbies outnumber the older chicks I have not had a problem. Would this be true of quail as well?
Quail rail sources I found:
For LG turners, $15.90, plus 8.95 shipping so $24.85 total

For Hova turners, $10.95 plus $8.40 S&H, so $19.35 total.

Anyone have a cheaper source? I have 1 Hova...
At a little over 6 months my girls have started laying! They are not tiny like the SC RIR eggs were when they started laying...that was a surprise. Miss Jayne advised me they are not as a prolific layer like the single combs are. Just so tickled they have actually started.
Hi!,
Doing a bit of research before making the plunge, I am new to quail; just hatched out a few coturnix
Does anyone have Butler quail eggs for sale? If so what is the cost/quantity of the eggs? Just send me a PM if you have eggs available, please?
This incubating addiction grows greater...
This week has been, umm...challenging, yeah. Assumed the weekend would have to be better, how could it not? Boy was I wrong! But the tipping point was my chicken situation today.
Just got a box with Barnevelder eggs I had been wanting so much delivered today...4 of the 12 eggs were crushed...
My 4 week old chick is turning her right leg out, it points 90 degrees from the normal foot position. Checked her and the leg joint is ( like our elbow ) is swollen and does not feel right in comparison to her other leg. She can eat, drink, and get around but can't really put weight on the...
I just bought water heater electronic thermostats for all 3 bators. I have 1 LG's and 2 Hova's. Has anyone else swapped out the thermostats in an LG and if so where did you end up mounting the new one? Hubby seems to think that he can drill a whole in the top so he can place it outside above...
I give up! The LG incubator I have is driving me nuts. It will NOT keep a constant temperature, it is the 3rd one I have been through in the last month.
I found on ebay an electronic thermostat for a decent price but would I also have to buy a heating unit such as a wafer or something? Here...
Hubby actually went out on his own and bought a Little Giant still air incubator and the matching egg turner. He installed a pc fan so it has air movement. Had it all set up and put some of our own eggs in it to hatch.
It doesn't hold temp or humidity like my Hova, fluctuates so freakin' much...
Before deciding how many meaties I will be raising, I wanted to see if I could find someone who processes chickens, preferably around the Peoria area. I have exhausted all my resources and cannot find anyone who does chickens, wild game but no chickens. Anyone have any info on Illinois chicken...
Would anyone know of a US source for ROSS COBB eggs or chicks?
I searched this site and was unsuccessful and after looking on a few search engines I am not finding a source either. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I am looking for Cornish Dark x Delaware eggs to hatch this spring. Hubby and I did a few CornishX last year but not really pleased with the accelerated growth rate and the issues that go along with it.
I am actually wanting to end up with Cornish Dark x Delaware x Delaware to get a 25%...
