I am looking for some Silver-Laced or Gold-Laced standard Cochins.
I don't really care about quality as I just want to look at the pretty...but a nice exhibition fowl would be neat to look at! I will take older birds that have proven themselves broody or I will take younger birds that haven't...
I have a bird that must have been killed by a VERY large predator.
The head/part of the neck was missing, as was a VERY large chunk of meat from the thigh. The head/neck told me possum but the thigh confused me. After "safeguarding" the coop...I awoke the next night to my birds scattered...
I am looking for hatching eggs or preferably older hens that have shown broodiness.
I am in LOVE with lacing, but do not like Wyandottes. I had them a few years ago and they were the meanest birds I had ever owned.
I'm in OK and NW Arkansas and am willing to pick up!!!
Please let me know...
I went to let the dogs out at about 6:00AM and found all of my chickens from one coop outside of their coop. Mr. Mom and 2 of his black Australorps were outside in the corner on the ground and a Light Brahma hen was roosting on top of the fenceline.
I'm assuming the other 2 hens are still...
I'm thinking of AIing my LF Blue Cochin with silkie sperm in order to increase the size of broody birds.
Do you think this cross would be successful? Would the chicks come out with the strong "urge" to brood since both breeds are nknon for their broody abilities???
What about the skin...
I wanted to share some photos of what my Barred Rocks look like! They're only 3 months old...so be nice! They're standards...bantams don't last long at my house!
(Ignore Glitch the black Australorp.)
My prized pullet:
I have 10 week old chicks that I moved outside today. Thing is, the temperature plummeted to 28* and it's only 7:30PM.
Here is a photo of them in their coop:
The coop has windows that have been blocked, and there is a "heat" lamp that doesn't seem to be doing much. I touched it and it...
I have a Fujifulm FinePixZ that I recently purchased. This camera has done WONDERFULLY with birds that don't have barring. Example:
However, when I try to take photos of my barred birds, almost all photos are "fuzzy" and don't show the detail like it does in the non-barred birds:
I...
Sorry...been thinking on some of these today:
1. Is yellow leg color or white leg color dominant? In other words...if you breed a Light Brahma (yellow legs) x Buff Orpington (white legs)...what would the dominant color be?
2. If frizzle can be put into any breed, can this variety be...
I was wondering if anyone from NE OK would want to make a caravan with me??? I've never been before and am going by my lonesome.
Would anyone be interested in showing another Okie around???
Also....for the females...would anyone be interested in sharing a room? We could cut prices in half if...
Please..I'm at my wits end.
I have had this HORRIBLE cough for over a week. It's disgusting. It honestly sounds like I'm hacking up a lung.
Does ANYONE have any tried and true methods for stopping a cough?
I'm going to the doctor, but I have a feeling it's the flu, so I'm just going to...
I've realized that I just don't have the "urge" to breed Minorcas anymore. They are EXCELLENT birds but just not what I'm interested in anymore. Plus, the winters in OK are just too hard on that nice big comb.
I will be taking a pair to Shawnee and am hoping to sell them as a breeding pair...
I have one remaining SQ Barred Plymouth Rock bantam. Her "siblings" and mate were stolen.
I WOULD ship, but I think it's too cold this time of year to do so...so I'm going to ask if anyone in OK (especially at Shawnee) would like her, I'll be able to sell her to anyone interested.
I will...
We have Destiny or Sheza Mastermind for sale. She was priced at $9500 and is down to $7500 now.

I'm afraid that if something isn't done soon, I will wind up losing my birds.
I have the full description of the issue here:

Pretty much, my birds are ALL bony and they are being fed 22% grower mixed with 16% layer pellets and...
I have had birds for 18 years, but I'm lost at this point. We have ALWAYS fed 15% layer feed with scratch (1 cup) for a treat. The layer feed was available 24/7. However, birds started dropping dead and the ones that dropped dead were either RIDICULOUSLY heavy or were as bony as a starved...
I have a chicken that I bred...and I know the parents. Thing is...let's see if YOU can take a guess on it??? *Evil Laugh inserted here*
Hint: It's a PULLET.
