4 week olds adjusting to new home

I brought home 28 silkie chicks yesterday afternoon and put them right into the brooder inside the coop. We have a heat lamp and the bedding is straw. All of the chicks are huddled together in the corner, away from food, water and heat. It is not too hot in there and not drafty. If it was too...

    Do I have an EggNapper?

for the past month or so I've noticed the egg production is down big time. It got to the point where I wouldn't find a single egg in two days (and I have 20 hens!). The nest boxes were all mixed up as if something had been scurrying inside. After a week of this, I did more investigating and...

Anyone in Niagara Region (Ontario Canada) who is looking for a pet PBP

DH and I adopted a PBP just over a month ago and we're starting to think that we don't have the time for a PET pot bellied pig. He's 6 months old and was raised in an apartment as a pet. He's litter trained and LOVES attention. Unfortunately, we had planned on putting him outside in the barn...

    Why do they hate me?

So, since my roosters have grown to full size, I have stayed away from the chickens as much as I can. No matter WHAT I do, the roosters try to attack me. I didn't handle them very much when they were babies, as I had my own baby at the same time. So, they are not very familiar with close-up...

How do you clean your dishwahser???

I've had my dishwasher for just over a year now and never really 'cleaned' it, other than wiping down the door and edges. I see scuz and it's grossing me out. What are your suggestions for a homemade dishwasher cleaner? I've seen the ads for Finish Dishwasher Cleaner, but I'd rather use...

Hi everyone! DH and I are finally joining the incubating-team!!!! We were just 'lent' a Hova-Bator, "Turbo-Fan", Circulated Air Incubator. Anyone heard of "Dippity Pig" illness in PBP?

My new (5month old) PBP is showing these exact signs (http://en.allexperts.com/q/Pot-Bellied-Pigs-3478/rear-side-pain.htm). We are in the 24th hour and the sores have spread a bit. Should I be cleaning the spots with hydrogen peroxide and putting polysporon on? He is making noise and squealing...

Dh has been seeing the chickens twice a day since the temperature dropped to -10 degrees. He collects eggs and changes the water, as both will freeze at this temperature. The last few days he's noticed that eggs are being "eaten". We find yolk dried on the other eggs and I'm guessing a decline...
