My bantam frizzle rooster is vomiting and drooling foul smelling clear liquid. He is lethargic, not eating and standing around with his eyes closed. I thought it was sour crop but his crop isn't swollen. I think that I'm going to loose him. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I hope I'm using the correct terminology. My silkie / cochin / frizzle cross rooster has been missing his tail feathers for several months. I was waiting for the fall moult thinking that they would grow back in at that time. He has moulted but only one tail feather has grown in. Upon closer...
Hi,
I currently have a broody silkie who is sitting on two red cochin eggs. I collected them from a friend who's hen had been sitting on them for 'a few days' and I set them under her on August 28 (15 days ago). I went to our cottage for a week and had a friend looking afer my chickens...
I have a banty hen who has just passed a yolk with no shell. She is lethargic and unhappy. Her last few eggs had a weak shell and I was in the process of getting her some oyster shells. But it seems too late...please help...she's our favorite hen and our children love her..anything I can...
Hi everyone,
I have a silver laced banty cochin, Lucy, who has been broody for three weeks. She is in a barn coop with 3 other banty hens and a rooster. I have been trying to break the broodiness by taking her off the nest several times a day, removing the eggs and even moving the nesting box...
I have a couple of silkies in with my banties and they have started to lay. We have 3 nest boxes for 4 hens however the silkies like to sleep in the boxes at night and make a mess of them. The banties use the nesting boxes but not after the silkies have shoved all of the shavings out and...
I have 3 banties - a Cochin rooster and hen and a Brahma hen - and two silkies. One of the silkies is small, white and can't see very well because of her head feathers. She likes to hang out with the larger buff silkie who likes to hang out in the coop with the other chickens.
The coop is a...
We went to a poultry sale on the weekend with intentions of buying a couple of banty hens. There was a man selling chicks in the rain on this cold, windy day and the chicks looked sad. We ended up buying 4....The seller claimed they were all banty hens??

I'm in a sticky situation. I have two banty roosters - a cochin and a dark brahma. I have them because a friend of mine had too many and wanted to find new good homes ie. not chicken pot pies. I've always wanted a chicken and now that I'm in my 40's I finally have not one, but two! They live...
Rooster was hatched June 1, 2008, raised by children but isn't being very nice lately. We only have two roosters but though he is a lovely fellow, he is not good with kids. Free. Located near Tottenham / Beeton area of Ontario, Canada.

I'm looking to buy some Silkie and banty chicks. I live in the Tottenham / Newmarket area of Ontario, Canada. Please e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks!
Hi there,
I'm new to this and thinking of getting some hens this summer. I would like to build a coop inside my horse barn.
My question is, do the hens need access to their nesting boxes 24/7 or do they lay at night or during the day?
Any info would be appreciated!
Thanks.
I'm new to posting on this forum but have been lurking and learning a lot. And I have a question!
I currently own 2 banty roosters that I got from a friend last fall who had too many roosters and couldn't bear to eat them or send them to someone who would eat them. So they live in my barn...
When I wrote my first life's 'To Do' list in my teenage years, one of them was to 'own a chicken'. Chickens have always fascinated me though I didn't have much exposure to them. Now in my early 40's I finally have not one but two! Mind you, they are roosters that my friend couldn't bear to...
