    Roof for run

I need some advice on putting a tarp over my run for this winter. We do not get heavy snows where I'm at, may be 3 or 4 inches ever couple of years. I currently have a 8 x 16 run. I need advice on what to put up to slant the tarp to shed rain. Very old picture of when I first built my chicken...

8 week old Barred Rock/ Cochin Rooster

He's not big enough for one person to eat, but after a search on here some one posted an article about cooking home raised chicken. I understand that these are dual purpose chickens. They are now 5 weeks old and are still very small. At what age can they be butchered and still be tender? We processed our NHR roo last year at 24 weeks. He was big as a turkey but was tough and "gamey" tasting. I understand that free ranged...

Difference between RSL and NR in chick

What am I looking for when I go to TSC in order to get RSL or GSL instead of the NHR. I can tell the RIR because they have the dark brown on the wing tips. Does NHR have dark also? They have a few golden ones with red racing stripes down their backs and white wing tips. Are these GSL?
