From my research I found that there are apparently two major types of Tapeworm. I large type that can grow about a ft and a dwarf type.
There are two drugs used to treat for Tapeworm Praziquantel and Albendazole
I used the Praziquantel Tape Worm Tabs for dogs, 34mg. You also get them for...
I found this picture on line and it is exactly like the larva/eggs I am seeing in one of my chickens poop. Before I start to treat I would like to be sure what they are?
They move and the "head portion" changes to become like a round ball as can be seen in the picture.
I have been composting my chicken poop and have added the poop from one of my chickens that I just learned has Tape Worm!
My compost does not get super hot. Will they survive and be able to re-infect?
What do I do?
I have been reading about Safeguard for Tapeworms can one only use the dewormer for goats? I only have three chickens and it is quite a large bottle. How about the safeguard for dogs or cats, could I use that?
How often do I need to retreat?
What is the dosage?
I appears that only one hen...
I recently noticed small, white, worm shaped things wiggling in one of my hens poop. I have only notice this twice. I scoop the coop and run at least twice a day (I only have 3 hens, so not so much poop).
Could these be fly eggs hatching? They are about 1/4 inch or less in length. If these are...
My sister has two chickens that have the "wart" growths under the lower rim of the eye. One is a mature hen, the other a 1 month old chick.
Please can anyone tell me what is this and how does she treat it?
One hen is a seabright that is sitting on two "normal" size eggs (buff ophington). The other is a black hen that is sitting on 3 buff eggs. The two hens grew up together. All eggs were placed under them at the same time so the chicks should all hatch (hopefully) on the same day.
Is is OK to...
I have a 2 or 3day chick that has been attacked and pecked by some hens. It is missing most if not all of its feathers. I have treated with neuosporin and i have it with its mother for warmth. It does appear though that its skin is drying out. Should I continue to treat with neosporin or start...
My 3 hens are really loud first thing in the morning and I am afraid they are disturbing the neighbors. I usually give them some greens or BOSS to shut them up. That got me thinking - would an automatic fish food despenser work to despense BOSS?
What do you guys think?
I am writing a formal letter and need to add my credentials. It has been such a long time since I have needed to do this I have forgotten the abbreviations!

I am growing a new variety of cabbage - it has a pointed head and now the cabbage worms are shredding them!!
I read that people use flour and baking soda to kill them. Has anyone tried this, if so what propotions and would the flour not get stuck in the head if it gets wet?
I have comiserated with many of you who have lost a favorite hen and now I am on the same side.
We were awakened at 6:00am in Memorial Day morning with Daisy cackling. My husband went to quiet her as it was early and we did not want to disturb the neighbors. He came back to tell me one of our...
I have tried to break Angelika's broody behaviour but alas without success! So I am going to let her hatch out some chicks so she can get over it and start eating properly again.
Please is ther anyone close to me who can sell me a few fertile eggs? I am in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Please say a prayer for those affected...
We had an unsually cold winter for Alabama and I had to cover my eve vents with canvas cloth to keep the chickens warmer. It went down to around 15F which is very cold for us - my chickens are not acclaimated to those temperatures.
Well having done what I could to close off some of the vents I...
Recently someone posted a link to a portable green fence with step in poles to keep chickens out of the garden but I can't find the post.
Can you help?
