I have an about three year old salmon faverolle roo who.. about a week ago seemed to get quiet. Now he's not a mad crowing type. And will have days where he just isn't that noisy so this didn't really mean anything to me. But five days ago I found him sitting on the floor alone rather than on...
About a week ago, I received a letter from the Council notifying me that there had been a complaint about my rooster crowing. It didn't specify time of day but did hint with some choice words about "cockerels crowing at dawn" but they wont give me any specifics. I've had Napoleon for over a...
My rooster, Napoleon, has been picking at the feathers on his foot recently and I've finally managed to catch him to take a look. He's moulting at the moment, but the skin on one leg is red raw down one side and theres a patch running up his thigh under the wing. And most of the feathers are...
Daft question but I was wondering if anyone has any clue on my roo..
He's about 18 months now (a salmon faverolle) and still a scruffy looking fellow though he's slowly moulting into his pretty feathers :p
His crowing however is weird... He's silent at night, silent all week (bar one lonely...
Everyone I know is fed up with me going on about my young Anca... So I'll bug you guys instead... I've never had a boy before so don't know if they are all cheeky or just him lol but he's such a character! And I never knew cockerels actually strutted... God knows what I'm going to do when he...
Well my accidental rooster acquisition has turned into a flock saver!
I bought 11 hens to add to my existing 4 silkies and the tiniest one turned out to be a "he" well he's five months old and attacked a fox! The back fence broke and Mr Fox got in (he got one hen :( ) but I heard a ruckus...
My chooks are all hybrids and now about 9 weeks old. I've noticed one looks a little different in the face... There are 11 in total and 10 look like these in this blurry pic..
.
However one, a bit smaller looks like this...
I know the pic is rubbish but a clear difference!
cracked open three eggs earlier... one was normal looking with a little white splodge, but two had a white dot with pale white rings around. Its not hugely clear in the picture but you can just see the white "halo" pattern. Are these fertile eggs?
I have four silkies and naturally one or the other often goes broody at the drop of a hat (or egg) - so one lady will steal all the eggs and find somewhere new to sit on them. Every so often we get some eggs that are a bit "dodgy" and it seems to be the ones the lady sits on. I was wondering if...
We currently have 14 quail, six adults and 9 seven week old youngsters. Recently it has started getting really really cold (water outside is freezing over) and I am a little worried about the young quail. The older ones dont seem bothered at all.
My quail are in a brick shed with double glazed...
recently I posted asking about this chap/chapette on the sexing section...
half seem to say male and half female (I am at a loss lol) It is 8 months and since I have had it, he/she seems to go through the motions of crowing but makes no sound whatsoever. The def ladies dont do this? Is it...
