I just recently bought chicks from a reputable breeder, (not a hatchery). They asked if I would like them vaccinated for Marek's. though I've never vaccinated any of my other chicks that I've hatched in the last 5 years, I thought what could it hurt?
I think that I made a mistake in doing that...
What is this? We just got these pigs last night at an auction and thought it was just roughed up some by other pigs, but I'm pretty sure it has to be something else to it. Please help if you're experienced at keeping pigs.
I'm looking to buy some true Ameraucana and I'm located between Clarion and DuBois, PA (NW PA).
I would like to add some blue eggs to my basket and breed some more olive eggers too.
I am hoping to find some wheaten or blue wheaten, but let me know what you have. I am also very interested in...
I just bought a pair of true Ameraucanas last month that I'm very excited about. I've hatched a couple of chicks and hope that they do well, so I can sell some of those chicks later on.
Right now, I'm getting a lot of requests for Easter Egger chicks. I have some adult hens already that I've...
I may be ordering some Cuckoo Marans pullets from Cackle Hatchery, but I would REALLY appreciate any BYC'ers posting photos of their marans and their eggs that they've been collecting. I've heard that the eggs won't be very dark at all and would like to see what shade they are.
Thanks!
I've looked at several cabinet incubators on this site and most have the hot water heater therrmostat in the top next to the light, but is it best to have the back of the water heater thermostat facing the light a few inches away or should I attach it to the wall with spacers? Does it make a...
I'm very sad....
Most of my speckled sussex that I got at TSC during chick days have died over the last couple days. They started out sneezing, then coughing and looking listless, then got ruffled feathers and started looking poorly. Out of 6, I've lost all but 2. They didn't have the...
I've been so excited about my Ameraucana eggs hatching and the very first one pipped in the wrong end of the egg.
I'm not sure what to do? Is there a chance that it will make it if I leave it alone?
Please don't BIN, just send me a PM if you are interested.
These eggs are from my BIL's ducks, and I have them here ready to go out tomorrow! They are unmarked, but future eggs would be marked with their color (if possible) and date.
He has several colors, but it looks as though some of the...
These are eggs from separately penned call ducks. They are from my BIL's ducks and he is getting more than he can use, so he's offering some for sale.
He didn't mark what breed they were on the top, so it will be a fun mystery hatch. :O)
They could hatch any of the following colors...
I need some ENABLERS to buy some chicks so I can hatch some more. :O)
Won't be allowed to hatch more if I can't move these ones. :O( (I have a party pooper at my house-no really I do understand where he's coming from, soooo....) would anyone like to buy some of these adorable babies? I have...
We got these calls at the Mt. Hope, OH auction last month. It says that they are "Blue Lace", but I can't find anymore info on that color or pictures to compare ours to. I went to www,callducks.org and they have a Blue Fawn photo on there and ours kind of look similar to those.
Here is a link...
Don't you need this beautiful boy on your farm? love
I love this funny guy! He's never challenged me and the ladies love him. He talks to them quite a bit. It enjoyable to just sit and listen to the neat noises that he makes. I think he's confused.
He makes these really neat noises/squeals...
Don't you need this beautiful boy on your farm?
This Golden Laced Wyandotte roo would work well for any number of breeding projects.
I have not had any problems or challenges from him and actually hate to get rid of him as he is one of my quieter roosters on my little hobby farm. He...
I want to build my own incubator in the worst kind of way! I had a thought this morning about using old oven racks (after forgetting that I had something in the oven before preheating it and melted it all over my rack-though it may have been a blessing in disguise!)
Position-tilting forward...
I have a silly rooster (Golden Comet) who apparently thinks he's an elk. He sounds just like one. Anyone else notice their rooster doing this or do I have a freak of nature? My other roos don't do it, just him. We don't even have elk where I live-not sure where he picked up on that sound...
I called home on my way from home from work tonight. I got BAD heart wrenching news.
The neighbor down the road called my fiance around 1 o'clock and let him know that there were two dogs running around the neighborhood without collars. He went outside to check on our flock and found two of my...
I've been trying to find out more information about chocolate OEGB, but haven't had much luck. I looked on the OEGB breed page (I love "shay20's" photo with the little chick sitting in the turner with eggs that haven't hatched. Looks like she was the first one to pick her seat at the show, only...
We got these at the Mt. Hope, OH auction and they are so sweet. The tag said that they were columbians, but didn't say what breed.
We're thinking that they are cochins, but just wanted to see what the experts have to say.... :O)
They're so round and cute!
