I am hoping someone may have bantam barnevelder eggs in the middle of March. If anyone thinks they may, please let me know. The price I have placed is just to fill in the blank.
I am at a a loss... This is my third batch of 6-8 lav ameracauna banties, and I have gotten 4 of 21 to hatch... The last group of eight were going strong at day 16 and 6 got to lockdown.. all the other eggs in with them hatched.. none of these made it.. I have tried the dry hatch method (25%...
I have two welsummer pullets given to me by a friend. One lays the expected dark brown egg, the other, we are quite sure, a pale blue egg. This baffled me at first. My daughter pointed out that Russet's comb is pea type, not like the one you should see on a Welsummer, but in all other respects...
I won a bid on BLRWs and I really want to give this person a (USPS abused, ABUSED those lovely eggs and he is sending me more, bless him!) He deserves super kudos - (isn't that an antelope in Africa?)
I wanted you to know that of the four BLRWs I hatched, I am pretty sure I have 2 blues and 2 splashes. No black ones, and one of the splashes I could be wrong about. I am a neophyte so the only thing I am sure of is that none of them are black. How did yours breakdown by percentage?
I know that some of the Alaska members are hatching this week and wanted to know how things were progressing for everybody. (Especially Pandora who had some sad luck last week) The big push is over but I've still got 6 eggs left due on Saturday ( ameraucanas and faverolles) 6 BCM's hatched last...
All right - I have a serama chick that's 6 weeks old. She has a lot of feathers in and I am sure they are frizzle. Its the weirdest thing I ever saw. The place I got my eggs didn't mention this possibility. Where does this gene come from? Can any group of chickens come up with it unexpectedly...
I have just set some BCMs in the bator and am a little confused about some of the info concerning hatching them. Some say they require the same humidity as any other eggs and some say dryer? What's the opinion of that? I'd like to get it right. I have never done these before.
Sorry,I know it sounds weird, but after 5 weeks the sun has come over the mountain again! You can't imagine the joy, human and avian alike. I expect the horses are frolicKing too.
I have BLRW eggs in the incubator. Anyone know what the color expectations are? I understand the color doesn't breed true, but I may be wrong. I am very curious about what I may expect.
How long past 21 days can one reasonably expect a chick might hatch? I don't want to crack an egg to determine what happened if there is still a chance for hatching. I had one Serama hatch at 22 days which seems very irregular since they are supposed to be early (19 days?). I would like to get...
Here is a pic of Pepper, one of my 2 Serama eggs that hatched. He/She lost her hatch buddy 4 days ago and had a hard time adjusting. Thanks to everyone who gave me pointers on how to help her out. They worked. Doing much better now.
Here with my son, one of her new buddies. Just thought it was...
I have 5 - 7 week old chicks. (3 Delawares and 2 ameraucanas). I plan to move them to a heated cage outside when they are 2 months or so old. Is that too soon? It would stay at about 40 degrees. How old should they be to go in the coop with the pullets and hens? It is well insulated but not heated.
I had 2 Seramas hatch of 5 eggs 6 days ago and one was 'special needs". He(?) was clearly blind in one eye (shut at birth). He ate and drank well, but was a little clumsy compared to the other. We lost it this morning. The remaining chick is miserable and cries all the time. I have put a...
I have Seramas hatching , and one has been out for since this morning ( 12 hours) in the incubator. The others are pipping and I don't want him to starve! I know he can feed on his yolk for a while, but how long? He's(?) my first baby, EVER, and I want to treat him right. By the way, he...
