I have a 2 1/2 years old barred rock who is pretty sick. Diarrhea for a week now, tired, not eating well, this came on sudden, she was fine the day before this all happened. I ordered Corid, should come in today. Since it kills the parasitic protazoa, would it kill any worms also??
I am losing my 2 year 7 month old hens. Called a vet and he said they are old and succumb to disease more easily. This stinks!!
I am wondering if I have a virus ect.. spreading throughout my flock or are they just old?? The three that have gone were small hens and very heavy layers.
My 2 1/2 year old BO suddenly came down with diarrhea 8 days ago. She was fine one day then all of a sudden this watery diarrhea and she seems to have a hard time seeing. I thought maybe she got pecked hard in the head and maybe it caused some damage, then the dirrahea began, are they related...
My 2.5 y/o BO used to lay everyday and now has stopped. Her comb has gotten smaller and less red in color? normal with aging?
She seems fine otherwise. THANKS
my sweet Scarlet is dying, but not quick enough. I am taking her to a vet tomorrow, sure hope he can handle tears. She has had a great life, she was my first hen to lay an egg, lots of personality ect..I will miss her, but can not watch her slow decline any longer. Much harder than I ever...
Just noticed the feed had mold on it this am, not sure how long they have been eating it like this. Opened a new bag today that I got saturday and tossed the rest of the other feed. What do i do now? I plan on giving them ACV and electrolyte solution in different waters. Poops seem ok this am...
my two year old BO has become quite, eating less and seems to be re- swallowing liquid when she puts her head down. crop is very small, one day it was full of fluid and when i PICKED HER UP THE PRESSURE OF ME HOLDING HER CAUSED FLUID TO COME OUT OF HER MOUTH. sorry about caps lock. anyway, I...
my two year old BO is losing her feathers. She gets alot of them plucked from my little feather addict Scarlet, another BO. But today she shook herself and many feathers came out. Just today I noticed her missing chest/neck feathers. she looks like she is in a molt. new feather shafts are coming...
I laugh now when I read some threads like "what is that tumor on my hens chest" that would be the crop, The first time I saw that I was like OMG she is going to die. could be fun to start a thread on what freaked you out when you first got chickens.
This was my dumbest self question, thank god...
Yesterday one of my hens was walking around with her tail feathers down and her shoulders a little up. She is a almost two year old BO, eating/drinking fine, pooping fine, talking fine, but did not seem interested in going out(unusual behavior)When I picked her up, I turned her over to check her...
went to the coop this AM and everyones poop was a bizarre bright hunter green, everyone seems fine, but their poop was weird. Only thing differnt was first time giving them red cabbage, could that have been it? anyone else ever see such a thing?not concerned at this time, but will keep a close...
we who live in a cold climate need to make sure that we have a secure, ENCLOSED-all sides coop for our hens. No expert, but I can't see just a trap as enough to protect in sub below temps. Thick layer of bedding to insulate the floor, fresh water, not frozen, you need a heated bowl or some other...
can I trim the tip off of a beak? how if so and will this help to prevent feather plucking. I have a 18 month old BO who has a serious addition to feathers, she is a great hen, good layer and very sweet to me, but my lord, you watch her for five minutes and she has plucked a feather from all her...
so Last night I could not take it any longer and moved three of my smaller hens with bald spots into the mudroom in a dog crate! Do I now have house chickens? come on, it was 25 below zero last night, I could not sleep knowing that they would be struggling to survive, I'm a hugh sap. My husband...
