Electric poultry netting and solar energizer question

I recently bought and set up a 100 ft Premier1 electric poultry netting with an IntelliShock PRS-I 50 solar energizer. I know nothing about electric fencing but it was pretty easy to set up with directions. My problem is after setting it up I realized that both ends of the fence are in a shaded...

Welsummer Roo on Cuckoo maran hen

Will a Welsummer roo and a cuckoo hen give you sex-linked chicks? I hatched 2 eggs from this cross yesterday and got one all black chick and one brownish chick with a white spot on it's head and some white underneath. Does the barring work the same with a Welsummer and cuckoo then assuming the...

Question for teachers(or those working to become teachers).

I have a 5 yr old ~80 lb dog who is friendly with everyone. My problem with him is he gets so excited when people come - especially children - that he bites their hands/arms(in a playful way but way too rough). He does this with my older DD(teenage) too. Of course he scares the kids. We have a...

    Composting in garbage bags

I have to do some mid-winter cleaning of the coop soon. I'm planning on starting a garden in the spring and am wondering if I can just put the chicken poo in some heavy duty garbage bags until I'm ready to start the garden - that doesn't happen until May around here. If I do should I add...

    Worst chicken molt contest? PICS!

I think we may have had one of these previously but I think my bird would take the cake. Poor thing. I'm a little worried because it's cold outside and she's, um, naked! She does seem a little embarrassed about her condition so I had to sneak these pics.

    Yellowjackets everywhere!

We have thousands of yellow jackets all of a sudden around here. We found one nest but I have no idea where they are all coming from. Any suggestions what to use to get rid of them?
