Just wondering if you can keep 2 or more female buttons together with no fighting (no males since I don't want fertile eggs)
Also how big does the cage need to be to house 2 or 3 buttons?
I've been looking around, and seems like all automatic coop doors go vertically. Are there any that go horizontally that are cheap?? Also they can't be bulky.. not much space! Will post a picture of the coop later
We currently have 4 hens, but will soon be moving to a neighborhood where chickens are prohibited. We would just bring them anyway, but they sing their egg song very LOUDLY at 6:30am, which would cause people to complain.
Is there any tricks to getting them to be quiet? I would like to try...
Cricket, our Welsummer pullet has multiple scabs and wounds on her comb, and we are unsure of the causes. It seems like they have been there for a few days because they are half-healed.
Part of her comb is puffy, and you can see something yellow underneath which we think is puss. We have applied...
I have 4 chickens overall, a mature Black Australorp, a mature Buff Orpington, and a Welsummer and a Silver Laced Wyandotte who are probably around 14 weeks. The babies have been together with the large hens for about 4 weeks now, and our Buff Orpington bullies them nonstop. The little ones will...
I have 2 babies that are about... 7 weeks old? I'm honestly not sure But they are about half the size of the 2 adult hens we have. Every day the little ones go outside in the dog crate, and the older ones free range so they get to see each other. I want to integrate the chicks with the adults...
I have a Buff Orpington who is very vicious now because she's broody. She spends the whole day sitting on the other chicken's egg combined with the 2 wooden eggs for the younger birds. I take her outside once a day for 4 hours. What can I do to break her broodiness?
Hi
I have a SLW chick that is about 4 days old, and is much father behind my Welsummer on it's wing feathers... My welsummer already has practically full wing feathers and my SLW just has pins with some fluff at the end. Does that mean it's a boy ? Or are SLW chicks just slow to feather in?
I have a cuckoo marans pullet named Pepper. She is disabled and can't walk, so I have her set up in a cardboard box that I can move around. She has been disabled for 3 months. 2 days ago I found her comb bloody. I figured that she had probably rubbed her head against the box too much, or another...
I've posted several posts about this already and I haven't found an answer so far, so I'm gonna try again since it's been a while
Pepper, my cuckoo marans pullet cannot walk. She can kick and wiggle but she can't stand. She is also very thin. I've treated her for worms, vitamin deficiency...
Hi
Some of you may have looked at an earlier post I made about my lame Cuckoo Marans pullet Pepper. She seems emaciated, and I was wondering what I could do to help her gain some weight. She gets vitamins, bread, scratch, mealworms, and more all the time, but she still can't seem to gain...
Sometimes when I reach out to pet Holiday, my Buff Orpington, she fluffs up really big and growls at me! Other than that, she is completely normal! What could be wrong?
1) What type of bird , age and weight.
24 week old Cuckoo Marans, unsure of weight but very light
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
Unable to stand. Feels very emaciated. We think the right leg is the main problem. She also does not like to stretch her right wing. Does everything else fine but...
I posted another post about this earlier, but this one will explain things in further detail.
Pepper, our 22 week old Cuckoo Marans hen has always been a little slow. Then last friday, I noticed she had a severe limp. On Saturday we put her in a dog crate and gave her Poly-Vi-Sol, along with...
Hi all,
I have a 22 week old cuckoo marans pullet that I have noticed having leg problems. Yesterday I noticed it, but today it's worse. She has a very strong limp in one leg (I think her right one, can't tell) but no injuries are visible. She can't stand up straight either. I'm assuming this...
Edit: More pictures in the comments below Those pictures are more up to date
Ruby is a 20 week old Black Australorp that I am anxiously awaiting eggs from
How close does she look to laying? How big will their comb be when they get close to laying anyway??
Thank you!
I have an Australorp, Buff Orpington, and a Cuckoo Marans who are almost 19 weeks old. They are NOT laying yet. Do I need to provide supplemental light during winter? They are only getting around 11-12 hours of light a day currently... What should I do?
Today I heard one of my girls doing what I THINK was the Egg Song (Bok bok bok bok bok Buh-GAWK! etc)
But they're only 13 weeks old! Are they going to lay soon???
