So I bought some rare Auburn Java eggs from an eBay seller. Two hatched. Seller is no longer an eBay member. Hm. Anyway, one chick is clearly an Auburn Java. The other one - any guesses to what breed this adorable chick could be? Thanks!
My Exchequer Leghorn is nearly three months old. Leghorn pullets do have large combs ... but this large? I don't see pointed hackles yet ... but maybe the start of saddle feathers? Opinions, please!
I think my Ameracauna is a girl ... no crowing yet, and she looks hennish. But those iridescent tail and wing feathers, and the plumage that looks suspiciously like hackles and saddle feathers ... and the upright stance ... what do you guys think? Bernice or Bernard?
I am so vigilant these days, locking up the girls at night, keeping the dogs separate, but something went wrong ... they were all outside the coop this morning, though inside the enclosing fence, which protects them from my dogs. But the youngest pullets were small enough to squeeze out. I found...
Ready-made Java flock for the Java entusiast!
One handsome Black Java Cockerel and three pretty Black Java pullets. One Mottled Java cockerel and one Mottled Java pullet. Four months old. Hatched and vaccinated for Marek's by me, fed on chick starter, greens, fresh fruit, and cracked corn...
Is our three-month old BBB cutie male or female? He likes to strut off and on. I'm leaning toward male, but will defer to the experienced folks ... Thanks much!
Yep, yet another Silkie gender post Can anyone venture a guess or make a definitive ruling? Thanks!

2. Pollo (Black) Three months:

Hi all,
Here are a few pics of my new babies - two Lakenvelders and one Golden Cuckoo Marans. Any guesses as to the Golden's gender? I have heard that males tend to be lighter. This is apparently my only hatch from eight Golden Cuckoo shipped eBay eggs - so hope it's a girl!
A couple of...
I've been trying to get a Speckled Sussex hen for some time now - just hatched three that appear to be roos. Holding out hope for this one, but it's looking more rooish - is it definitely a boy? What do you think?
So I hatched some eBay eggs that were listed as Light and Coronation Sussex, with some mysterious results. I believe one of the below chicks is Light Sussex - any guesses on the darker one? Buff Sussex? I know it's not a Speckled Sussex. These babies are almost two weeks old and have delightful...
This is my first hatching attempt. I'm using eggs shipped through eBay. The initial set came from three sellers - the eggs of only one seller really developed. Beautiful little hearts beating, then their eyes showing, then movement ... There were 10 little birds living, and then one by one, in...
So I did a very stupid thing a week ago, and added a new pullet to my little flock. Of course, she brought something extra - a respiratory disease. All the chickens are about three months old. I put them all on Duramycin in the water. The new pullet kept sneezing, and my favorite hen started...
Pictured is Hayato, our nine-week-old EE, purchased as a hen. S/he made a few crowing attempts shortly after dawn yesterday. S/he is mostly the dominant bird of the flock of four other hens. Wise ones of BYC, what say you? Hen or roo? Thanks so much!
