Today is day 16 for my hatch of 10 button quail eggs and only 1 hatched out so far.. She (or he) hatched around 5 in the morning today, I think. None of the others hatched out and I'm really worried about the lonely one. I have 5 adults but I don't think it's safe to put the baby with adults... -
Broody Button Quail!
I have a broody button quail!! She was laying in a nest so I didn't bother with her eggs and choose to watch what she'll be doing and she went broody! She has total 8 eggs (I think) and is sitting on it for almost 7 hours straight! What should I do for her? Will she be eating and drinking normally? -

Going away for 3 days
I'm going to beach tomorrow, thursday, and come back on friday. I currently have 38 days (5weeks and 3days) old 6 button quails. I change them once in three days so I'm not worried about bedding while I'm gone. I always give them plenty of food so I'm not worried about that either. The thing... -

Is pine, spruce shaving with fir bedding fine for button quails? I purchased whole lot at pet store for $10. I put some in their cage and they seem to "shaving bath" or sth.. they roll around. Is this okay? And some of my quails seem to be eating the tiny shavings.. is this normal? -
