I am going to be painting my coop sometime this week. When the painting is done my sign will go up. Since my chicken coop has been named "Hot Wings Hotel" I thought it would be great to have a picture painted on there of a chicken in a biknin either laying down leaning on her hand with her legs...

Ok, my DH was able to get some free bags of play sand from work. I thought it would be great to put a container of it in the coop for the girls to dust bathe in. Well, all they are doing is eating it like it is the best treat ever. Do I let them go or will eating the sand harm them?

I will be dead! 2 of my EE'er , Lexy and Kelsea are going to send me to an early grave. Every night I go out to the coop at dusk and turn the coop light on. I sit in my chair and watch as one by one wander into the coop and settle down for the night. All except for Kelsea and Lexy of course...

As far as structure wise the coop is done. Just some cosmetic things need to be done still. Landscaping, shingling, painting, staining, decorating, you get the picture! If you look carefully you can see the chicks sitting in the doorway to the coop!

Well, one of my little 6 week old EE'ers is so adorable but is acting kind of rooish. I have what are "supposed" to be all pullets but we all know how that goes. Anyway, Lexy never sits still so it was hard getting photos so here is the best I could do: I am hoping she just "acts" manly !

I was so nervous but they are all having a ball! They love the new coop and the run. A tiny scared yet. BTW- I left a light on in there for them since it was new to them. When can I shut off the night light? :aww

So I have read that heavy breeds wait until they are 6 weeks for a roost. I have BR, RIR, and EE'ers. Well they are two weeks and I think they need something! Every day someone is sitting on top of the waterer, roosting on my feeder, pooping in there! Does thins not mean maybe a roost should be...
